This is a 3-mile walk off-road walk over an extensive area of moorland south of Carn Galver in West Penwith Cornwall. The moorland is a beautiful natural environment today but what people do not anticipate is that it was once a hive of activity within the Bronze Age. We will visit along the route a number of ancient sites, including stone circles, a Bronze Age village and barrows to name a few many of these are off the beaten track and allow you to experience an unspoilt and unique environment which is away from the usual walking tours.
At each site I will build up a picture of the people who inhabited this now forgotten area of Cornwall, talking about how they lived, worked and some of their ritual practices. As part of the walk, we will walk in the footsteps of people from 4000 years ago and follow a bronze age processional route which is little known about, I will be able to explain why this processional route is located as it was.
I hope to inspire you all to look at the landscape with fresh eyes and take news skills home of things to look out for which may have been left by ancient people. Your enjoyment is my highest priority.

My name is Carolyn, I would love to share with you my insider knowledge about the hidden ancient landscapes of west Cornwall. I know these western moorlands in the Penwith region off by heart and love to share my knowledge about how different communities of people lived and worked in this landscape for Millennia.
I have led walking tours for many years and am passionate about the archaeology of the area.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and am a published archaeoastronomer.

This walk is located on some of the highest ground in West Cornwall and therefore has the most wonderful extensive views of the peninsula and the ocean. We will visit a number of Bronze Age sites including the little known village as well as walking the ritual processional route between a number of barrows and Boslednan Stone circle

A very special experience! Best would be to come prepared, but even not knowing much about the Bronze Age, we enjoyed the facts and stories shared :-)

The walk was really good and we were able to see sights that we might otherwise might have missed. The ancient history of the area is fascinating and Carolyn was really knowledgeable.

We don't walk much but after this we are looking for similar walks in our own locality because we enjoyed it so much. Carolyn certainly takes you to very interesting places that you would never find yourself. The time just flew by and it didn't seem at all like hard work. Carolyn is very knowledgeable and has a clear passion for what she does. Will definitely be trying one of her other walks in the future.

I very much enjoyed Carolyn and her wealth of knowledge about the ancient cultures and structures of the Bronze Age people, as well as the early tin mining of the area. Well worth it!
