Azalea Farmstay

This unique space is a timber framed, sod roof, strawbale house nestled along the edge of Upper Cow Creek in the Umpqua National Forest. Inspired by our great, great grandparents’ home on the range, Dad designed and built this from Douglas Fir logs harvested here on site and finished with clay from the back pond. We have a small off grid retreat space on rural forested land 1 hour from Crater lake and 1 minute to Lost Creek lake where there is recreational areas, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. The space has woodstove heat, hot running water, kitchen, shower, and outdoor compost toilets about 100 ft away. The toilets are shared with the 3 campsites on the property. There are also food and medicinal gardens here, as well as the option to participate in plant healing work with the land steward.

It is walking distance to Hyatt Lake, the Pacific Crest Trail and 2.8 miles from the Table Mountain Snow Park. This area is perfect for a large variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, E-biking, dirt biking, ATVs, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, back country skiing, sledding and hunting. Minutes away from the quaint towns of Rogue River, Gold Hill (with beautiful Del Rio Winery & Oregon Vortex House of Mystery), and Grants Pass (home of jet boat excursions and good dining). Good fishing is just 25 yards down river’s edge. Car access to the river but watch out for a couple of big rocks.
