Hi John, the center is only around maximum 10 minutes from my house! It depend on the traffic! Olso with bus and tram is very easy to go to the center area and visit the most important roman sites (Circo Massimo, Terme di Caracalla, Colosseo, Fori Imperiali, P. Venezia, Campidoglio ecc)
