As soon as you roll into the long, stone-framed driveway your mind relaxes. Staying with Kay at the Shallowplough was about as perfect a Bed and Breakfast experience as can be asked for. Getting out of the car, you are greeted by her exceptionally friendly and small dogs who politely guide you to the front door of the large, stone estate. Inside, Kay greets you with a hug and a hello! The first thing she offers is a nice tea time (complete with delicious cakes) and gives you a quick tour of the house. After the tour, she'll show you your room and ask any needs for breakfast or inquiries on how to get around town etc. She was amazingly accommodating and even volunteered to drop us off at the wedding we were attending so we wouldn't have to hire a taxi.
The house itself is impeccably cared for and exists a few miles outside of the small town of Ellon. It sits in the middle of rolling green hills, surrounded by well groomed landscaping which adds to the charm in staying here. Your room is on the opposite side of the house as the living quarters, so the silence and privacy is perfect.
Overall, our stay at the Shallowplough with Kay was everything we could have asked for and when we return to Scotland, we will 100% be looking to stay here again.
Kay, thank you immensely for your hospitality and British charm. It was a true pleasure staying with you.
