We offer typical Sri Lankan village atmosphere with an authentic Sri Lankan kitchen where you can also look over shoulders of our kitchen crew.
We arrange kite lessons and material from our kiteschool.
Wake up to the sound of birds and the wind.
Kalpitiya is a small fishing village in north western province of Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya is an emerging kiters and windsurfers destination.
Me personally being fascinated by kiting and windsurfing we have started a "village" style accommodation with service next to the main lagoon of Kalpitiya, where our guest will enjoy comfort closer to nature.
"Ruuk Village" is built within a coconut plantation without harming a single tree in the process. All five cabanas are very specious and there is plenty of space around you.
Our goal is to provide cost effective accommodation to all who wants to discover the fascination of Kalpitiya just the way we did it.
We want to be the first ever village site in Sri Lanka, where you can enjoy kiting, windsurfing or even just enjoying the nature like dolphin watching, whale watching, visit the national park (Wilpattu national park) which is about 90mins drive from the the village.
We also help you organize a cultural trip to the Sri Lankan cultural triangle ( Sigiriya, Dambulla,Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa).
From may till end of September its the main wind season.
From Oct to April our guests can also enjoy , snorkeling at the Sri Lankan largest reef ( 300 square miles) or a dolphin / Sperm whale safari. We organize these trips for you if you mention this in your booking.
- We have clean and basic cabanas for double occupancy, each cabana has its own shower and water. Each cabana has only two beds, an extra bed can be added on prior request ( extra charge )
- Common sanitary area
- If you are here for kiting, from our village just pump your kite and start kiting at any time of the day. The winds are best from May till Oct. You save time traveling to and forth to the lagoon from a distant place.
- There is a small village shop where you can buy your daily needs such as drinking water, cool drinks, fresh fruits etc
- Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner, you can order it from our small restaurant (a limited Sri Lankan Menu on warm and cold dishes)
Our aim is to provide you an unforgettable stay in Kalpitiya at an affordable price to fit your budget.
"Quality in service does not need to cost a fortune"
If you are a kitesurfer then you can go from the breakfast table to the water and start your kiting day (for advanced kiters).
For sunbathing/swimming you can go to the other side (with the boat taxi for € 3.50 per person (flat rate per day, but if you have full or half board this is included), or if you don’t mind the sludge lagoon’s bottom then you can also go swimming in front of “Ruuk Village” premises. The water quality is just as good as the Indian Ocean but it is no sandy as on the other side of the lagoon. If the lagoon’s bottom was sandy it could have been turquoise blue water.
We also organize dolphin tours, willpattu national park tour or even a personalized round trip to cover the Sri Lankan Cultural Triangle.

Something which is very important, the project follows a social engagement principal. Which means my main intention of this project is not to create a 100% profitable organization but to create a sustainable project where the locals are responsible for their own success. I guide them and coach them with the most needed knowledge and soft skills. I hope that the time I invest in them will provide the individuals a secured future. So that they need not go to away from their village to earn a living. The time I invest in to the project is on a volunteer basis and I am happy to see the individuals growing. 100% of the net profit goes back in to the project as further investments.
Within the cabanas smoking is prohibited.
If you decide to do your own cooking a small fee for Gas would be billed.
If you need to cross the lagoon you can use our partner water taxi which runs on fixed prices (flat rate)

Good service and quality does not cost a world, its all about your mind set. And to prove this statement I hope I get a chance to host you at one of my projects in Sri Lanka ( Hikkaduwa & Kalpitiya).
I love to have a chance to show travelers coming to Sri Lanka something different to the ordinary. Would love to give tips for your travel route and enjoy promoting this small island in the indian ocean to any one who wishes to experience a different culture with a rich history.
