Set on 10 acres of bushland yet only minutes from Castlemaine’s town centre, you’ll see nothing but trees from every window. This unique, modern 2 bedroom property is a professionally converted barn and is the ideal spot to unwind from the stresses of day to day life.

Featuring gas heating plus reverse cycle heating/air-conditioning, the light filled, spacious and stylishly decorated open plan living area has plenty of comfy seating to relax and enjoy a book, listen to music, watch a movie or play a board game.

The fully equipped, modern kitchen with gas stove, microwave, fridge and dishwasher allows guests the choice of cooking at home or dining out. The outdoor patio area has a BBQ and outdoor dining table - don't forget the marshmallows for roasting in the fire pit in the cooler months or apples to feed the native birds!

The main bedroom is upstairs in the mezzanine level and features a queen bed and single bed (or day bed) with amazing bush views from every window. (As shown in the images, this room is a light, bright open room with half height walls.)
Bedroom 2, downstairs which also has bush views is set up with both a queen bed and a set of bunks. For larger groups, a click down sofa bed is also available in the main living area if required.
All bedding, pillows, towels are provided.

The bathroom is modern with a shower and a separate toilet.

To ensure guests' comfort during the cooler months the property is heated by a main heater in the lounge room, supplemented by a split system. The bedding is of good quality and there are plenty of warm blankets as well as electric blankets on all of the beds (except the single trundle upstairs).

With families in mind the property is set up with toys, books, children’s DVD’s, stair guards (upon request), a high chair, porta cot (BYO linen) change table and a baby bath.

Guests have full access to the Castlemaine Hideaway in the Trees and its grounds during their stay - make sure you bring some apples for the native bird feeding station and keep an eye out for other wildlife when exploring!

There are 2 other residences on the 10 acre property, but both are positioned close to the main road at the entrance to the block, the Castlemaine Hideaway in the Trees is completely private and secluded, nestled amongst the trees at the end of the long, winding driveway.

The perfect place to unwind or explore Victoria’s Goldfield’s region, the owners of this property have thought of everything to ensure guests have both a comfortable and memorable stay in their home!

PETS:
Your dog is welcome by prior arrangement only but please note that The Hideaway isn’t independently fenced of the other 2 properties on the block. If you are bringing your dog, please ensure its flea and tick treatments are current, that it is completely dry and free of mud before entering the house, that it stays off furniture and beds and that you clean up after it.
A pet fee of $50 applies if you wish to bring your fur-baby with you.

CHILDREN:
- The Hideaway is set up with families in mind. A high chair, porta cot (BYO linen) baby bath and change table, 2 sets of stair guards (on request) plus children's DVD's, books and toys are available for use during your stay at no extra cost.
- There is a dam near the entrance to the driveway. Whilst it is quite a distance uphill from the Hideaway guests must ensure that children don’t wander too far unaccompanied.

- There are 2 other residences on the 10 acre property, but both are positioned close to the main road at the entrance to the block, the Castlemaine Hideaway in the Trees is completely secluded and private, nestled amongst the trees at the end of the long, winding driveway.
- The Castlemaine Hideaway is on tank water only, guests must conserve water wherever possible.
- During warmer months, it is important to take care when walking around the bush as you may meet some of the local wildlife.
- Due to the risk of bush fire the fire pit can only be used between the months of April - October
- The owners' dogs live at the main house and may at times be seen in the property’s grounds, it is rare however that they venture down to 'The Hideaway'. All are very good with people especially children as the owners have a young daughter.
- In the BBQ area you’ll see the wild bird feeder – feel free to feed the native birds fresh apples.

CASTLEMAINE AND SURROUNDING AREAS:
The property is located in Campbells Creek in the goldfields region of Victoria, about 90 minutes or 120km north west of Melbourne. Castlemaine’s historic streetscapes are a reminder of its immensely rich gold mining days but today the town boasts a burgeoning food and an eclectic arts scene with something to entertain visitors of all ages.

• With numerous cafes, bars, wineries and pubs many locals have renamed the town (with tongues firmly planted in cheeks) 'North Northcote!'
Particular favourites are The Red Hill Hotel (in Chewton), The Bridge Hotel, The Taproom, Togs Café, Run Rabbit Run, Saffs, The Fig, The Dove, Das Kaffeehaus to name just a few!
• Award winning bakery and patisserie 'Johnny Bakers' is a must
• For shopaholics check out the Corner Store Merchants, Stoneman’s Books, Rike-Design, Mount of Alex Books, Restorer’s Barn, Maine Second-Hand Centre, Mo’s Antiques, Taylors Homewares and Tate Decorative Iron who boast vintage clothing, books, jewellery, homewares & antiques
• ‘The Mill’ - originally a woollen mill has been transformed into a creative hub for artisans, foodies, beer swillers, wine lovers and more. The Mill also houses The Castlemaine Vintage Bazaar, a 2000 square metre op-shopper's delight!
• Markets: Wesley Hill Community Market (every Saturday morning year round) & Castlemaine Farmers' Market (first Sunday morning of every month in the IGA carpark)
• The Theatre Royal - the oldest continually operating theatre on the Australian mainland. Built in 1852 it still operates as a cinema, live music venue, bar and restaurant; Bistro Lola (Italian cuisine)
• 19th C Castlemaine Botanical Gardens set on 25 acres with a diverse range of birdlife, wonderful children's playground, flat 1.7 walking track perfect for little ones with bikes and/or dogs on leads. Other playgrounds of note are Victory Park & Taradale Mineral Springs Reserve
• Summer Fun – there are lots of local swimming pools plus Expedition Pass - a scenic reservoir in Golden Point (a few km from Chewton & Castlemaine). Locals just call it ‘The Res’ and it’s fantastic for swimming, fishing, bushwalking, canoeing and bird watching
• Victorian Goldfields Railway which links Castlemaine and Maldon, through Box-Iron Bark forest. This is a must-do for the kids but booking ahead online is recommended
• Burke and Wills Memorial - Victoria`s first memorial to Burke and Wills
• The Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park which covers 7,500 hectares and includes relics of the gold mining era.

Historic MALDON where visitors can experience streetscapes perfectly preserved since its gold mining days of 1854 - 1926. In recognition of this, Maldon was classified as Australia's First Notable Town in 1966 and awarded the ‘Most intact heritage streetscape’ in 2006 by the National Trust. Its list of historic buildings is impressive and visitors can browse through fashion boutiques, sample local produce, take a nostalgic journey on board the Victorian Goldfields Steam Railway, drive up Mt Tarrangower to get a 360 degree view of the area from the lookout tower or follow the Maldon Taste of Gold food and wine trail.

BENDIGO - a vibrant contemporary regional centre created from one of the world’s greatest gold rushes. Wide streets lined by opulent buildings are now interwoven with intriguing laneways and arcades that are home to a new breed of innovators who again delve deep to create a vibrant energy across the city. Modern day Bendigo has sublime food, wine and shopping experiences against a stunning heritage backdrop.

KYNETON has a collection of some of the finest bluestone buildings outside of Bendigo and Ballarat. It has a unique character forged on the wealth of the goldrush and today is a rural hub with a creative and gastronomic focus on the diverse and evolving Piper Street precinct.

DAYLESFORD and HEPBURN Spa region. The two spa towns represent the ultimate in indulgence and relaxation, an ideal setting for romantic getaways.
