Hi Leorah: The bathroom is private for whomever books the room:) so yes you are right. It is saved for guests only as stated in the listing. "Females only. Cute Room. Private bath."
You are right, it is budget friendly for $48 a night for two people whereas a local hotel is typically $180 plus tax. We love and use AirBnB wherever we go for the same reason. It's cheaper. And you get to meet real people stay in their lovely homes and live like a local. I'm glad you liked Sleepy Hollow and the Halloween festivities!
Still, travelers must keep in mind that AirBnB's are not generic hotel replacements. We are a family and this is a family's home as we live here and share our space with travelers and business people. It was a Saturday night and so my daughter had three friends over after a local poetry reading and didn't clean up from their coffees (I just got a new milk steamer that I guess they wanted to try out) and all went home when you and your guest got "home" so as not to disturb you. I love that she is respectful like that! And that you noted her respect for you as a guest! I do wish she had cleaned up the coffee mess and I apologize for the dirty mugs and coffee grinds in the coffee maker. She then fell asleep on the couch watching television. I go to bed by 10 so I missed meeting you in person, but I always ask guests to address any questions or concerns with me while they are here as opposed to after they leave. It makes for a better experience all the way around.
Case in point: The trash that you refer to is the recycling area in the kitchen with the bi-fold door to hide the cans. It is possible that it was left open. I would have closed it.
As my listing says, my dogs, like all others, bark sometimes. I am sorry if they disturbed you and if I had known, I would have made them come inside. I am sure the little one was the peeing culprit! I will have a word with him.
All the best, Laura
