Historic moss draped live oaks welcome travelers to this Old Myakka country retreat.
Once an artist studio and honey house, our rustic studio appartment now offers travelers an opportunity to experience the tranquil beauty of old Florida.
The property is connected to Myakka State Park through a wildlife corridor, creating many opportunities for wildlife viewing. Deer typically visit in the mornings and at dusk but the birding experience goes 24/7 with migration season in winter.

The studio is approximately 300 square feet, kitchenette is equipped with small appliances, refrigerator and microwave and a full bath.
The studio is private with a separate entrance, air conditioned with portable heaters, should temperatures drop. The daybed sleeps two, on twin size mattresses. The trundle unit below, pulls out and pops up.
There is an armoire and closet for hanging garments and a small dresser.
The day bed with pop up trundle sleeps two comfortably on individual twin size mattresses.

We are located just over a mile past the north gate to Myakka River State Park, three miles east of the Crowley Preserve and Nature Center. The Celery Fields with over 200 species of birds is twelve miles west and Sarasota's beaches, theatre's and museums are eighteen miles west. Lakewood Ranch town center and polo fields are seventeen miles north west and Arcadia's historic district is eighteen miles to the east.
We are in the country but a comfortable and scenic drive through historic Old Myakka to many amenities.

Myakka City, Florida, Yhdysvallat

Old Myakka is steeped in old Florida history, from the pioneer ranching families to native American artifacts, dated from 2500 bc.
Mossy Hammock is an equine community of 5+ acre home sites. It is a wonderful place to live and experience the beauty and tranquility of nature. We are truly blessed to live along side so many threatened and endangered Florida species.

Designer/Equestrian, Lover of art, music, travel and nature. I grew up in Kentucky horse country and moved to Sarasota forty years ago to attend the Ringling College of Art and Design and the University of South Florida. Sarasota was a charming beach community back then and a haven for artists and writers, generations of natives, founding families and Ringling Circus performers. Sarasota will always be home but the traffic and overgrowth sent me east to it's historic origins and a more peaceful place in Old Myakka. Myakka River State Park has always been a favorite Florida park. I found this beautiful lot beside it, with thirty two historic Live Oakes in 2010. I started building a barn and infrastructure and moved my horses in and a few bee hives in 2012. I was so totally awe struck by the wildlife and beauty of the place, moving here became inevitable. I designed a farm house to be compatible with the oaks, the parks landscape, as well as our rich ranching history and moved out here in 2017. I love nature travel destinations, as well as art and architecture. If you appreciate Florida's native habitats and wildlife as well, you will find this place most enchanting.
