Eco-Gites of Lenault on the edge of Swiss Normandy is a popular choice for families, groups of friends and couples. It has an open plan downstairs, split over 2 levels which succeeds in being both spacious and cosy. Upstairs are 2 large bedrooms and the bathroom with stairs leading to the third bedroom on the upper floor. It is close to the many popular tourist attractions Normandy has to offer.

Eco-Gites of Lenault is a spacious 3 bedroom gite, sleeping 5, situated in the beautiful Calvados countryside just an hour south of Caen ferry port and on the edge of Swiss Normandy (Department of Normandy). It has been equipped to a very high standard and makes a great base for all adult groups or families travelling with children.

Downstairs is open plan over 2 levels, separated by a balustrade. On the upper level is a large well-equipped kitchen which includes a dishwasher, microwave and cooker as well as plenty of storage space for bags, coats and shoes. 3 steps lead down to the large dining room and lounge area and the wood burner as a focal feature.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with double bed and the twin bedroom with 2 full sized twin beds. A second staircase takes you to the mezzanine with a full sized single bed. The mezzanine room also acts as a play room with toys, games and books supplied. All bedrooms have room to take a travel cot which we can supply. The bathroom is also upstairs where there is a large shower, toilet, basin and washing machine.

We wish to make your stay here as pleasant and relaxing as possible so we supply or offer all of the following:

* A well stocked welcome box with extras such as something home-baked, local cider and home-made jam
* The chance to buy local produce from our smallholding
* A comprehensive tourist pack

For travellers with young children we supply much of the kit you might need - cot, high chairs, booster seat, potty, changing mat, toys, plastic cutlery and crockery, bed-guard, fire-guard, stair gates, night light etc.

Outside is your own terraced garden with table and chairs, large sun umbrella and BBQ. A few metres away is the large play area, a play barn, a boules pitch. Visitors of all ages have the chance to collect eggs and meet our animals.

The gite, a restored hay barn, has been created using reclaimed, reused and eco-friendly materials & furnishings. It is insulated to a very high level and with the efficient wood-burner warming the whole building, it is also great for cosy (and romantic!) out of peak season stays.

Vieraan pääsy

Guests have exclusive use of the gite and their own private garden with garden furniture, sun umbrella and BBQ. There is a large play area for children that includes wooden play equipment, a trampoline, hard standing and grass areas and a play barn. Guests have access to our animals (conditions apply) but certain working areas are off limits to guests.

Vuorovaikutus vieraiden kanssa

We live next door to the gite and are here to greet guests. We are also able to help guests with information about what to do locally. At certain times children (and adults) can help collect eggs and meet/feed the animals.

Muita huomioonotettavia seikkoja

During peak season (July, August and the last week in May) we only take full week bookings from Saturday to Saturday. At other times we are happy to take short bookings and can be more flexible with dates. We may also be flexible on price - please ask.

Please note that the first and last day of week long bookings are change-ever days and as such are available for you to book. This may not always be the case with short bookings so please contact us to confirm exact availability.

Please do contact us for a price for a short break as we may be flexible on length and prices.

I was born in The Cotswolds in England and spent my childhood on a farm. After graduating from Newcastle University in Agriculture and Environmental Science I worked first for The National Trust and then for Kent County Council as a Countryside Officer. This was where I met Simon, my husband. Simon set up a business of countryside management and I joined him a few years later specialising in school grounds development and environmental education. This included working with special needs children for over 7 years.

We started a family in 2002 and in 2007 moved to Lenault in Normandy, France with our boys then aged 4 and 5. This enabled us to realise our dream of having a smallholding and opening an gite. We now produce much of our own meat, vegetables and fruit. Depending on the time of year we have pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, ducks as well as our 2 dogs and 4 cats. I love hippos but sadly can't have one here so have to make do with pigs!

Simon is more the traveller than me having spent time in Australia and many countries throughout Europe. He now skis with the boys once a year but our other journeys are usually just to the UK to catch up with family and friends.

We now spend our time welcoming guests from all over the world who want to come and share our little corner of Normandy. Since opening the gite in 2010 we have had guests from 14 countries aged from 9 weeks to 87 years old!

We look forward to welcoming you and aim to provide you with a holiday that is both relaxing and fun!
