I am so sorry that you did not have a wonderful experience at Still Water Bindery!
You were a very hard guest to please, and nothing seemed to be right for you during your stay.
As I have many guests coming through AirBnB to stay with me, I am sorry that I did not remember that I had offered you some eggs with your breakfast. All you had to do was ASK! No problem and I would have served eggs! As it was I went out of my way to provide you with gluten-free crackers, a bottle of wine and cheese for your arrival, as I was not going to be here to welcome you due to a longstanding engagement. I showed these to your friend, and she even chose the bottle of wine. In addition, I made a special trip to the bakery to buy some gluten-free macaroons for a tasty treat on your last day.
A "continental style breakfast" is described in the AirBnB description. You seem to forget the dairy products, including yogurt that was served as well at breakfast. A selection of three various fresh fruits were available every day, and the granola is homemade, not store bought. Freshly made coffee and tea were available all day. Yes, other guests have been more than pleased with this selection for breakfast ~ so sorry it did not work for you.
I suggest next time you stay somewhere that there is a kitchen facility for use by guests ~ especially if you wish to eat meals other than breakfast at the rental. My kitchen is not available to guests ~ as clearly stated in the description. You seemed to be unsatisfied with this, but this is a house rule.
The price of the workshop was public on the AirBnB Experience page. The hourly rate is also public information on my website. I am not sure why you expected to pay only $35 for a $150 workshop? This was very awkward for me to ask for the correct fee. Having spent almost 6 hours teaching your workshop (that in the past too only took 3 hours to teach to three other guests) was exhausting. If you were not able to see the demonstrations, I would gladly have done these at your own work station. If my instructions were unclear, you could have asked as many questions as you needed to for a clearer understanding of the steps. The workshop included a choice of my private collection of papers purchased around the world, in addition to my own paste papers, and silk and fabric book cloth in many colors. All tools and materials were included in the workshop in addition to the instructions. I stepped in to help you make a beautiful book, as I do not think you would have been happy with less than what you left with. In the end you all made lovely books to take home with you ~
You yourself said you do not have cell coverage in Vermont. I explained that I had been some intermittent problems with my wifi coverage, and that the company is currently working on it. As I mentioned several times, the local library was just two blocks away, and aways has wifi service that can be used from outside the building. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is a village in a rural part of the state. Other guests have used services when they travel to larger towns during the day, connecting to their cell and wifi then. As per my AirBnB description "Wireless internet is very spotty and there is no reliable cell service in Newfane. Welcome to Vermont ~ and enjoy some time being off the internet!"
Don't know why you missed the driveway - there is a very detailed description of the location of the house on AirBnB. I haven't heard that other folks have gotten lost. It even says how many house past the local store it is, and the visual at end of my driveway. Maybe you did not read this description on the listing?
Communication is the key ~ ask for what you don't see, but please don't complain afterwards. AirBnB hosts try to please all their guests all the time. Your review is what we rely on to have a successful business.
Sorry this visit didn't work for you.
It didn't work for me either.
