Historic, unique winemakers house in stunning rural location in the village of Pepieux.
Charming, interesting, detached winemaker's house with terrace and garden situated in traditional French village. WI-FI. Sleeps up to 6.
Close to Canal du Midi; ten minutes drive away. Carcassonne; 45 mins. Mediterranean Coast; 45mins
Approximately 5 miles, a pleasant bike ride away, is the Lac de Jouarres; a lake with swimming and watersports, lots of vineyards, mountains and restaurants.
The house is spacious with a wide wooden staircase that winds up to the top floor. There you will find a large loft style open plan room which runs the length of the property, almost an apartment in itself, with a featured interior stone wall, a view of the Pyrenees on a clear day and ample furnishing. There are two double beds, a large sofa, two armchairs, desk, piano, and storage for clothes etc. Teenagers, in particular, would love it!
On the middle floor there are a further two bedrooms. The largest leads out on to the terrace where you can see across the red roof tops and again, the mountains beyond. Great for al fresco eating, morning coffee, or your evening aperitif, with seating for everyone, again, with ample furnishing and hanging space. Across the landing you will find another double room with a single bed. Also on this floor is the large bathroom. Next door is separate toilet, sink and more storage space. Please state which rooms you will require
The ground floor is equally spacious with a very well equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room with a large wood burner and a separate dining room accessible through the french doors seen on the photographs.
There is a barn attached to the house which is currently a workshop so it is rough and ready. Here there is the traditional wine press, a manger and two cuvees, one of which has been converted into a summer shower room. The washing machine is here too.
The garden is accessible via the barn. This is about 40metres square and has its own charming well! Super again for al fresco eating, lounging in the sun, or shade of the pergola on the sunbeds provided.
To go back to the house it is relatively unique because it has a garden attached as well as a terrace. This is unusual for a village house. Added to this the property is full of the character you would expect from a vigneronne. It is old, has enjoyed hard work, has many lovely wooden beams, high ceilings and the 'je ne sais quoi' which many of us associate with things French!
However, wherever you stay, wherever you go, bon chance! Any questions? I am happy to talk to you.
In addition to the bedroom you book you will have access to the whole house including the garden.
2 cycles, WI-FI, Sun loungers, Outside dining table and chairs are available for use
