Jakob is a very kind and thoughtful host who is always quick to respond to any questions. He was there on our arrival to go through info on using the spa etc. He even bought beautiful flowers which added a very special touch. The house is very clean, warm and welcoming and is a great place to come back to after a day exploring all the wonderful sights within the golden circle. We were even lucky enough to see the northern lights from Jakob ‘s patio, which were simply amazing and made our stay even more memorable. The village itself has all the shops you need within walking distance . There is a great bakery and also a Bonus supermarket, which we were made aware is one of the cheaper ones. Jakob was also kind enough to leave a few things in the fridge( thanks for the Viking beer) and there is pasta and herbs etc which he said we could use. Self catering is definitely the way to go if you are on a budget, eating out is hugely expensive, although we did treat ourselves to a meal at Varma restaurant at the top of the hill, (without our sons!)which was amazing . We travelled with our two teenage sons who also really enjoyed the holiday and having WiFi meant they could plug themselves in when we got back so at least they couldn’t moan... another great tick in the box. Another thing we couldn’t believe is that you fill the spa up and empty it like a bath, so it is very hygienic and as all the water is sourced from the geothermal springs, it is pure and also very hot. A wonderful way to relax after a busy day. Overall this holiday was one of our best and we would thoroughly recommend this Home. This was our first iceland experience but hopefully not our last!
