Dear Tonny, I am quite saddened by this review as I find it to be an inaccurate and untruthful record of the events that unfolded when you were at the apartment. When the lock to the master bedroom was broken, your sister called me to inform me that your son had locked himself in the master bedroom, I immediately told her that I would send a repairman who is available 24/7 from the management office who would have been there in 5 minutes. Even before I finished that statement I heard you say in the background that you had broken the door. In your own conversation with me, you confirmed that your son had locked himself in the bedroom and had been there for 1 hour. This is despite the fact that your sister only called me when you were breaking the lock. If it was an emergency, I would have expected you to have called me immediately to help out once you realized that your son was stuck and not 1 hour later. Furthermore, we had provided you with the phone numbers of the management office to call in case of any emergency at the house. I requested that you bear the cost of replacing the broken lock. You handed over the phone to your father in law who was yelling insults in the background as we spoke. He continued to issue threats and intimidations to me. From his voice and insults it was clear that he wasn’t sober and I then insisted on only taking to you as the person whom we had engaged with on Airbnb. We later had a conversation with you a day later during which I requested for payment for the broken lock and you informed me that you were waiting on your father in law to make good on the payment given your lack of funds at the time and that your father in law had been the one who paid for the trip. You informed me that you would inform me of the same later in the day. Up to now I am still waiting on your response. As regards the front lock, it is suddenly surprising that this became an issue after we insisted on you paying for the broken lock. When we spoke about the door lock, we agreed you would send me the video you took of the faulty door lock which video to date you have not sent and now in your review you state that I refused to see the same. This is a fabrication on your part and you should at least be honest in your review. Even more surprising is that you had prior to the incident of the broken bedroom lock been in the apartment for 2 days and consistently used the main door to enter and leave the apartment without any complaints. Even after the incident and you raising the concerns on the main door, you still managed to exit and enter the apartment without issues. We do not state that the apartment is 100% perfect as wear and tear occur and as such the video would have gone a long way in establishing whether the lock was faulty or not and also ensuring that you or any future guests do not have issues with the lock. We have however had the management repairman inspect the lock and he confirmed that the same is in good and proper working condition. As regards, electricity, we usually ensure that the apartment has sufficient electricity for the duration of any guests stay. On the first occasion that you didn’t have electricity, I sent you a text message alerting you of the nationwide blackout which affected the whole country and this is a matter of public record where an official statement was issued by the power company on this blackout. As regards the second incidence, in as much as we cover electricity costs for the guests, this is not a blanket cost which provides the guest to misuse electricity as you see fit or run up excessive bills for the host to cover. You are the first guests who have utilized or consumed 200 units of electricity primarily meant to be for 2 weeks within 4 days. As explained to you in our conversation, this usage was not normal and unprecedented and for me to inquire on usage was merely to ascertain the unusual usage and its cause and rectify the same for you and future guests. In both instances of power loss, I immediately informed you when power came back and on the second incidence sent you power tokens within minutes. I have records of your phone call and the time when I sent you the tokens which was 10 min apart. I even called on both occasions to ensure that the electricity was back on and that you and you companions were okay. As regards, the cable, we had a conversation on the same and you confirmed that you attempted to connect the surround system to your laptop in order to amplify the sound but were unsuccessful. I am surprised that now you deny having touched any cables or the surround system. We also during this conversation agreed that since you denied having taken the cable and despite the previous guests having utilized the same, agreed to make it a non issue and we subsequently left it go. We have also chosen not to list and demand for repair costs for the broken electric water kettle that no longer functions after your stay as we believe sometimes accidents happen. As a super host, it has taken time and effort to reach where we are and we take great pride in ensuring that our guests have a good experience. This includes providing our guest with the best possible experience in terms of the description and representation of the apartment to ensure that this is an actual representation on the ground once the guest arrives at the apartment and that our guest get more value for their money. All we ask for is that our guests take care of the apartment as if it were their own home.
