Ana is a lovely and accommodating hostess. This is more the accommodation for graduate students than it is for professionals accustomed to hotel stays. But the nice low price tells you that!

Some 'saging' is due: We have a great many coffee shops [6 within two blocks from me], eateries of all sorts and food stores at a walking distance from 300 block of 46th street which really is in the heart of quiet residential area of Spruce Hill but surrendered with many ethnic, fusion as well as some good all American restaurants West Willy is known for. These are easy to check online; I am also more then happy to point them out when asked. I will very likely, as a result, add some local suggestions to listings. There are 22 pages of eateries at U[niversity]C[city] district site, at least 1/3 of them are at 6 blocks radius from me. We walk. This listing only possibly* shares a kitchenette on the same floor with other guest in a small suite of two rooms [maxed to two people] on the same, top, floor - and the stairways. Guests are of all ages and walks of life. Graduate students who needn't be discriminated against are not predominant but generally the younger people are. Of course I am sympathetic to Ph.D candidates and their plight. :) Sometimes researchers stay here longer due to the proximity of a few local Universities and nature of their work.
Ana was informative and attentive. The house is a beautiful Victorian in a great location, but there are no locks on the bedroom doors and numerous guests were staying there, raising some concerns with security.

Thank you, Vicki. While I regret that you had concerns with security, it is important to me that my house stays the house and does not turn into hotel. The guests are my personal guests, a temporary family. I have been hosting since 2005 and I have had no security concerns nor issues. I also understand that people come with their own world views and sense of security and it might take a bit to relax into this type of coexistence. A great majority of guests are comfortable with it or ease into it quickly. I always tell people if/when they [rarely] bring up with me the fact that we do not have keys for individual rooms [which I do not promise] , I have waaay more things then visitors, which puts things into perspective for most and sometimes we go over who other, current, visitors are and that completes the picture and relaxes them. In general the visitors are [in order or magnitude] parents of local students or other youngsters in the area [70%], researchers from other universities coming to work with a local professors/departments and conferences [15%], tourists [7%], people relocating and waiting/looking for their apartments [3%]... As for the TV being removed from the room, I wish you told me. There are a few sitting in the storage room a floor below. It takes 10 minutes for me to install/connect one back in the room. The TV downstairs, in the front, common, room, on the first floor with cable and ROKU was available. As for other amenities', you are right, I looked and had not have checked the kitchenette, extra pillows and blankets [the feather comforter you used fits there], hangers, shampoo, laptop friendly workspace...they are checked now. 'Look on bedroom door' stays unchecked. The TV is back. Please look at the pictures carefully: the bathroom pics show a fairly open concept without a door to the side bath entry as well as the 'window' from the shower; the burgundy color translucent curtain about a foot above floor is added as a screen. I usually mention that there is a shared bath on the floor below if needed. I am sorry you almost fell when the hallway light switch that was set on automatic failed to recognize the movement on your way out early in the morning. The switch, which is on arm distance from your door has regular on, off + auto setting and can be corrected manually. I actually found it on 'on' after you left. It seems you corrected it, which is fine. You would turn it on in your house unless there is an expectation for it to just be on as we appear. On an otherwise natural light filled hallway. There is no reason for lights to be on 24/7 in a house, and so that, additional, automatic setting is of good help but occasionally the little comp chip might skip and that's when we humans correct it to meet our needs. Neither we nor technology is perfect. The switch performs 95% of the time but I'll keep an eye on it. I will definitely see what else I can do to improve after your comments, short of drastically changing my approach to space and relationships. I am more concerned about people going to the top floor [and down] in heavy boots ignoring informal, yet respected, 'shoes off' policy even after polite asking for consideration seemingly for the fact that it was not in writing. Grateful to be reminded to make that part of the listing package now. Thank you again and all the best to you.
