TOWELS & LINEN

LOCATION & VISTA'S
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac at 4 Illawong Crescent, Dunwich. A 15-20 min drive to the far more tourist filled Point Lookout and its surf beaches. It is less than 10 mins drive to Main beach and you only drive past 3 houses then the bush to get there. Main Beach has great fishing and surfing and is perfect for long walks on the beach and a swim. The property is only 15-20 mins drive to Point Lookout and Amity townships and their countless stunning beaches and 3 mins to Dunwich Township, bay beaches and the vehicle and passenger ferries.

It is a beautiful 20 min bush walk (or less than 5 min drive) to Lake Bummeria (Brown Lake); a stunning spiritual natural tea tree lake that leaves your skin feeling as smooth as a baby’s bottom. 5 mins drive to the fun, relaxed, family friendly NSI golf course, 7 mins to Blue Lake.

This home is all about connecting with nature, peace and tranquillity. Boasting breathtaking day & night views of Moreton Bay’s spectacular turquoise waters & Brisbane city’s sparkling lights from most room (including 3 main bedrooms, lounge and kitchen).

You will enjoy sitting back and unwinding whilst experiencing the most amazing sunset vistas from the undercover outdoor living area which is equipped with a 4m table, large wicker lounge and huge 6 burner BBQ with wok (BBQ gas included).

On a clear day you can see the Glasshouse Mountains to the North and as far south as the Tweed volcanics; on wild days you can sit and watch storms up to 500 kms away. The view changes by the hour due to tides changing and the suns angle. There is always boating action on the bay to watch and you can see the planes landing and taking off from the Brisbane airport.

AMBIANCE & WILDLIFE
“Sunset @ Straddie View” is extremely quiet, tranquil and private with lots of visiting wildlife including sugar and squirrel gliders, birds of prey (eg. eagles and kites), parrots, goannas and the odd kangaroo or chance of a koala. We are owner managers (not a large property management company). We are quick to respond (usually less than an hour) to booking enquiries and all questions you may have before and during your stay. We are happy to help you and provide local Intel, or leave you to relax. The choice is yours.

COVID-19 SAFTEY
This property has a COVID SAFE Industry Approved Plan in place and is professionally cleaned between EVERY booking to enhanced COVID-19 recommended cleaning and disinfection standards, including sanitising high touch surfaces with hospital grade 80% ethanol sanitiser.
We also have mandatory guest contact tracing through STAFE STAY QR Code Check In and Check Out. It is a legal requirement that any person exhibiting COVID like symptoms get tested and does not proceed to attend the property. It is also a requirement that any guest who becomes unwell within 14 days of leaving the property and test positive to COVID-19 notify us, so contact tracing can occur.

NO PETS ALLOWED! This is because the property is not fully fenced and there is wildlife around such as a a curlew family that lives in the yard and gliders in the trees.

FUNCTIONS, WEDDINGS & GATHERINGS
No parties wedding or functions. All functions will be shut down, police called and and full bond will be lost. However we can recommend some great wedding and party venues in the island and even assist you with contact details for catering, event planning, florists, cake makers, hair dressers, make up artists etc. the house has hosted many bridal parties in wedding preparations. It is set up well for that and accomodation for a wedding party or guess.It is just not suitable to host an actual wedding or party at the house.

STRADDIE SUM UP
To sum up Straddie as a destination - it is a place of stunning environmental beauty and wonder. It has a deeply rich culture and history but it is laid back and friendly. Some say a trip to Straddie is like stepping 20 years back in time. Come experience it for yourself!

DEATILED DESCRIPTION

BEDROOMS:
The Master suite plus bedrooms 2, 3 & 4 all have celling fans and built in wardrobes. Bedroom 5/rumpus room has a pedestal fan and air conditioning however no wardrobes. The Master suite and bedrooms 2 and 3 have stunning Moreton Bay water views; whilst bedroom 4 and 5/rumpus have a tranquil bush outlook.

The Master suite has a king size pillow top bed, TV, reverse cycle air conditioning, study desk and en-suite,
Bedrooms 2 & 3 have queen size pillow top beds and reverse cycle air conditioning.
Bedroom 4 has 2 single pillow top beds.
Bedroom 5/rumpus room has reverse cycle air conditioning, 2 king single beds plus a single trundle bed which have legs that unfold so beds stand at full bed height.

KITCHEN:
Fully appointed modern kitchen complete with dishwasher, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, rice cooker, slow cooker, blender, fully automated 'Nespresso Lattissima' espresso machine; and all you will need in the way of pots and pans, wok, cutlery, crockery, and utensils to cater for up to 11 people, it’s like your home kitchen not your usual sparse holiday rental kitchen.

OUTDOOR LIVING AREA:
Huge covered outdoor living area complete with a 11 seater wooden table, large wicker lounge and large 6 burner BBQ with wok. Also has a great Fire Pit area about 20m from the house with log seating for 11, see picture.

BABY NEEDS:
Upon request a cot, change table and high chair can be supplied.

LAUNDRY:
A huge 10kg top loading washing machine, clothes dryer, clothesline, iron and ironing board.

You are renting the entire single level 4-5 bedroom house on a 1/2 acre of private land; complete with a remote controlled lock up garage. You will receive 2 sets of keys and garage remotes to use during your stay (or ask for more if needed). 4 of the bedrooms can be individually locked by key if your require it (good for corporate groups etc).
Please note that for groups with less than 8 guests we may lock the doors to bedrooms not needed by your group. There are additionally some locked cupboards with cleaning products and bedding storage.

LAKE BUMMIERA or BROWN LAKE is 2 Km door to door; an easy 5 min drive or a beautiful 20 minute bush walk arriving at the stunning fresh water Tea Tree lake. It is a truly special and spiritual place and is a must do experience. A swim will relax your mind and body whilst the Tea Tree leaves your skin smooth as a baby's bottom.

MAIN BEACH is less than 10 minutes' (pass just 3 houses then bushland) drive with 32km of stunning white sandy beach which is great for 4WDing (you can drive the full length of the beach if you purchase a permit for your vehicle), swimming, surfing, fishing, jet skiing and long walks etc.

DUNWICH TOWNSHIP is less than 3 minutes' drive and features a fantastic historical museum which is well worth exploring. Learn all about Straddie's diverse and interesting history including Quandamooka indigenous culture, ship wrecks, Straddie's leper colony, benevolent asylum, whaling station and WW II bomber and submarine watch post. Another interesting place is the University of Queensland's Moreton Bay Research Station (MBRS) which conducts world class marine and environmental research.

Dunwich has all the amenities you will need during your stay including a supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, post office, newsagent, Quandamooka art gallery, cafes and take away eateries. The Dunwich foreshore has some beautiful calm shallow water beaches (eg. Adams Beach which is ideal for swims with small children) and beautiful bay walks (eg Polka Point).

NSI GOLF COURSE is less than 5 mins drive or a pleasant walk away. It features an 18 hole sand golf course with the most relaxed feel and is family friendly (also has free putt putt golf), affordable and teeming with wildlife such as kangaroos on the greens plus the rare and magnificent glossy black cockatoo's.

POINT LOOKOUT is a 15-20 minute drive and features great patrolled surf beaches the spectacular Gorge Walk and some nice cafes. A Gelato from the Point Lookout Gelato Bar whilst taking in the stunningly rugged coast and watching passing animals (eg. whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles and rays) is a must do whilst on Straddie!

There is plenty more to experience whilst on Straddie, far too much to mention here. We also happily provide local Intel before and during your stay. We will leave you to enjoy your stay in private, however are always available if you need anything just sing out. We have produced a guest info book which has HEAPS of info about the house, loads of brochures about Straddie all the activities and attractions, our top tips about the Island plus a whole section of menus from Island cafes etc. We are happy to be involved during your stay however we will leave you to enjoy your stay unless you ask for our involvement.
