Close to Barnstaple, with a shopping centre, restaurants, bars, theatre, cinema and museum accessible by a 5 minute car journey, or 20 minute walk through Anchor Woods onto the Tarka Trail. We’d be happy to advise on our favourite places.
Supermarkets within a one mile radius include Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Lidl.
Closer to home is the Cedars Inn - just a five minute walk to this large Old English Inn, offering bar and indoor and outdoor dining from brunch to dinner. They often have great offers on their Facebook page out of season - well worth a look before dining.
The infamous, award winning Pelican fish and chippy is a 10-15 minute walk away offering the UKs best ranked takeaway or eat in as voted by the national fish and chip awards 2018.
A 2 mile cycle/walk along the Tarka Trail will get you to Fremington Quay with an expansive river beach, unlicensed cafe offering highly recommended brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and wonderful views across the River Taw.
Another 4 miles on you’ll reach Instow, an unmissable destination for stunning sunsets. We love the newly refurbished Boathouse for a window or balcony seat of this gorgeous river/estuary setting.
A ferry trip from Instow to Appledore is recommended, tide and season allowing. Appledore is renowned for its views, live music, pubs, quay and restaurants
Close to Appledore is Westward Ho! The only such name place that has the distinction of having an exclamation mark in the British Isles with great access to coastal walks, extensive beach known for swimming, bathing and surfing.
Good bus routes and of course car access also possible to all of the above.
Taw Bridge is just a few hundred yards away - a gateway to the golden North Devon hot spots of Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacoombe which are just a short distance.
