This space is an upstairs bedroom and half bath with a private entrance. The "other half" of the bath is a private outdoor shower with hot and cold water, with all amenities provided. Bring flip flops! The view from the bedroom and private deck is of a small farm, fields and woodland. I am 18 miles from VIR if you are a race fan. I am happy to open my kitchen and laundry facilities with some planning. I also have an RV hookup, extra parking, cars, trucks, etc. An inside bath is available.
My home is in tobacco and cattle country. I would be happy to help you come to know this beautiful part of rural Virginia. Interesting tidbit: I have a band that practices in an outbuilding on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 10 pm. Would love to have you sit in!
we are a very private and quite neighborhood.

Beautiful farmhouse on 10 acres in rural southern Virginia! Enjoy peace and serenity in the country!
Lovely country farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs). The main level of the home features a living room with two couches, a music/game room, a dining room with seating for 4-6, a kitchen equipped with an electric range, a laundry room with W/D for your use, and one bathroom with a shower stall. The second level features 3 bedrooms, one of which has an attached bath with a shower/bath combo. All three bedrooms are furnished with a queen bed; there is also a queen air bed available for use. The home has heating and cooling on the main level and fans available to direct hot/cold air to the second level (as well as space heaters in each room, if needed). The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a lovely meal! A charcoal grill is available for your use, as well. **The home comfortably sleeps 6 adults in 3 queen beds, but can accommodate additional guests on airbeds.** The property features over 10 acres for your enjoyment. A small creek is located on the south/east side of the property and marks the property boundary. Several historic tobacco barns/structures are located throughout the property (**we ask that you enjoy the structures from the outside and do not enter any of the structures for your safety**). Wander the property, picnic outdoors, watch for wildlife (deer, turtles, frogs, birds, and bear have all been spotted!), and star gaze at night (particularly in the winter months). Also a wonderful spot for fall foliage! **New for 2020 - we now have wifi and a TV/DVD player!**
The home is located in a rural area of Southern Virginia, surrounding by farms and homesteads. But there are plenty of interesting things nearby! Also, ask us about any local events that might be happening (like the annual blueberry festival, Yoga by the Pool, local music, etc.). Our favorite nearby features include: - Hunting Creek Vineyards (15 minutes): the tasting room is open on Saturdays from 12-5 and offers great wine with a lovely pastoral view from the tasting barn or patio. - Conner Lake (15 minutes): A boat ramp is available for kayaks or small watercraft. Swimming is not permitted, but the lake is quite scenic for rowing around and/or fishing. - Halifax (18 minutes): A cute little town with a few restaurants (check out Molasses Grill!), a farmers market (Saturdays from 8-1), and a handful of stores (Cozy Cottage, Peddler's Market, Toots Creek Antiques). - Bannister Lake (18 minutes): A boat ramp and small picnic area (with viewing dock) is available. The lake is fairly long and narrow offering opportunities for kayaking and fishing. You can also paddle to the dam. - Staunton River and Brookneal (19 minutes): A small town offering a grocery store (Food Lion) and wonderful food at The Drug Store Grill. Also offers boat access to the Staunton River. Red Hill (Patrick Henry's last home and burial place) is also located here. - South Boston (30 minutes): A slightly larger city with several restaurants (Bistro 1888, Berry Hill Plantation, Southern Plenty, etc.), shopping, The Prizery (offering an art gallery and theater in a historic building located in the South Boston Tobacco Warehouse District), the Tobacco Heritage Trail, and Southern Virginia Raceway, among many other attractions. -Staunton River State Park (37 minutes): Lakeside park on Kerr Reservoir featuring picnicking, lake access, and a swimming pool. -Southern VA wine/beer/spirits (varies): A handful of wineries and distilleries are located within 15-45 minutes of the house, including Hunting Creek Vineyards (mentioned above), Bright Meadow Farm Vineyard, Springfield Distillery, Bondurant Brothers Distillery, San Soucy Vineyards, Staunton River Brewing Company, etc. Feel free to ask us for more info about any of these!

The historic Old Crowe Farm is a 132-acre pasture-based sustainable farm and educational outreach nestled in the rolling hills of south-central Virginia. The farm sits on a 496-acre tract of land that was actively farmed in the mid-1800’s by John Nelson Bruce, Sr. (b.1812). During this time period, Charlotte County was composed primarily of self-sufficient farms and plantations. Many families in 1800’s Virginia owned slaves and raised many crops consisting of corn, hay, soybeans, wheat, and tobacco. A two-story log cabin on the farm is rumored to have been home to one of these slave families when the land was owned by the Bruce family. The cabin is made of hand hewn logs with clay daubing, hand-made square nails, and V-shaped notching at the corners. The cabin is a truly individual and distinct creation made out of local materials by local people. Preservation activities are currently underway with this cabin and plans are to furnish it with artifacts from that period. The numerous tobacco barns located on the farm also serve as constant reminders of days past.

Our Cabin is about 12 years old and has been very popular. We are located in the Buffalo Creek-Springs area of the largest lake in Virginia! It's the best lake for Fishing and Boating!! The Cabin gives you and pets room to enjoy privacy. Fully stocked limens - bring soaps & toiletries! . Very large Bath. Washer/Dryer
Fishermen are welcome. Fishing is popular here all year round. Please note! *our side of lake is private but it’s not a deep area so when lake levels are low, the dock may be unusable for boat. We have room in our driveway to park your trucks and boats. Pull up close to the outdoor faucet or electrical outlet if needed. Buffalo Park and Boat Landing is just down the road for launching your boat. The Park also offers picnic tables, fishing area, playground and a nice swimming area. There are many nice, local Federal Parks plus Occoneechee State Park. The lake is right out the back door with a gentle sloping path through the trees that is easy to walk. Enjoy sitting on the back deck and get back to nature! Boat Rentals are available in town of Clarksville or at Marina. We live on the adjoining farm so we are right here if you need us or have any problems!! The water at our dock is only about 3-4 feet deep so x-large boats are not recommended to dock here. Floating is good but swimming is better at the local parks or out in the open lake if you have a boat. Always go feet first! Never assume you can dive in our lake. And be aware of drop offs! We have a Fish Cleaning Table and placed a Picnic Table in the backyard for your cookouts! (Please be courteous and clean up this area after use.) We have recently added WiFi. If you wish to use the Internet please inquire. Thanks !
A few miles from the only town on Buggs Island Lake. We are also only 15 miles East of South Boston, VA where you can find a Wal-Mart, more restaurants and a movie theatre & bowling alley.

Clay Earles the year before NASCAR was formed, Martinsville Speedway is one of the oldest tracks in America that’s still a part of the Nextel Cup series. Beginning in 1947 with 750 seats, it is the only original NASCAR-sanctioned track still running Nextel Cup events. Richard Petty, now a car owner, holds the track’s winning record with 15 victories. Although it is the shortest track on the NASCAR circuit, the 800 foot straights, coupled with turns banked at only 12 degrees, makes the track perform like “two drag strips with a turnaround on each end.” The demanding layout consistently produces some of the wildest fender scrubbing and push and shove racing on the tour. A two-story log cabin on the farm (pictured to the left) is rumored to have been home to one of these slave families when the land was owned by the Bruce family.

My place is within 15 mins of the airport, the city center, historic hiking and trails parks, art and culture, and great views. You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood, the comfy bed, the coziness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).

Unobstructed lake views, in a quiet neighborhood! This home is well suited for two families or a large crew looking for a close getaway... Kerr Lake is just over an hour from Richmond and Raleigh. Private dock, boat slip, outdoor shower, 10 min to town and memories for years to come. This is our special retreat and we hope you will choose it as yours!
Our home is located on Kerr or Bugg's Island Lake, just outside Clarksville, which offers restaurants, antique shops, a marina with boat rentals, grocery stores, festivals and much more. The home has two bedrooms and a basement, which I refer to as the "kids zone" because with a tv, wii, games, books and 4 beds I'm able to shout "go downstairs" when the adults need some peace on the deck. The house has bath towels, sheets and all the things you'll need to enjoy your stay, including a washer and dryer. Just bring your suits, beach towels and plenty of sunscreen!
My favorite things to do include hiking throughout the area, getting ice cream at the Cottage Barn, having some wine at Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Winery, taking the kids to the playground and splash park at Occoneeche State Park, getting a beer at Buggs Island Brewing, touring Prestwould Plantain or just wandering through the shops downtown. Oh, and then there's the lake :). Hiking, boating, fishing, biking, kayaking, swimming or just enjoying a quiet evening on the deck are all encouraged... whereas electronics should stay home as internet in the countryside is available, but very slow. We have lots of DVDs and a Redbox in town, but puzzles and books are our favorites!
