Spacious rooms in magnificent listed Georgian mansion - one of the most beautiful and oldest houses in Torquay. With up-to 5 rooms available it's ideal for families and groups of friends. Every room is large and bright. There's plenty of parking along with the peace and quiet of a secluded, totally private location.
On the 2nd floor are three double bedrooms, a huge sitting/dining room (with sofa bed), a shower room and a snug with microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. On the floor below there is a spectacular double with private modern shower/wet room and access to a shared bathroom. With sea views from both of the double bedrooms and the sitting room on the second floor, we think you'll find these one of the nicest AirBnBs you'll have stayed in. If you choose to book the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor then you will have exclusive use of the shower room, snug (with microwave, fridge kettle and toaster) and massive sitting room; it's basically a three bedroomed apartment accessed through the main house. If you are booking for 9 or 10 people please be aware that one/two of these will need to use the sofa bed in the 2nd floor sitting room (or we can add a single bed to one of the double bedrooms).
Ideally situated for the Riviera International Centre, International Agatha Christie Festival, Torquay beach, the Princess theatre and Torquay station - all are a short walk away. The Chelston part of Torquay is a leafy suburb with lots of fine Victorian villas and the seafront is but a 10 minute walk. The award winning Cockington Court and historic Torre Abbey are both within easy walking distance.

Recently featured on ‘The Culture Trip’ blog as one of the ‘TOP TEN FAIRYTALE CASTLES’ to stay in on Airbnb! Check out the Culture Trip website to read their amazing review on our home. Our home is a stunning section of a Victorian mansion house. With huge entertaining spaces and magnificent views out to sea. Enjoy time in luxurious surroundings in a beautiful part of the country. contact me for special deals as prices change depending on the time of the year. High season exceptions apply.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT 2 NIGHT BOOKINGS DURING HIGH SEASON, FROM JULY-SEPTEMBER. Totally unique 3 storey section of grand mansion with large enclosed gardens Lots of original features Open fire in the sitting room 2 large flat screen TVs bedrooms spread over three floors for extra privacy ideal for families and couples off road parking spaces lots of local activities: golf courses, fishing, walking, seaside activities etc. AMAZING views Famous former residents; Vivien Leigh & Laurence Olivier. recently renovated with new heating system & roof. Decorated for Christmas Large garden Views Full use of section of house Original roll top bath Close to the sea and Dartmoor Quaint English seaside town Lots of excellent restaurants Traditional pubs Easy access to Exeter and Plymouth Excellent public transport; we have a mainline railway station less than 1/2 mile down the road and there are also excellent bus links. Passenger ferry across to the fishing village of Shaldon (the oldest ferry route in the British Isles). MINIMUM OF 3 NIGHT STAY. All damage must be paid for. Any extra cleaning charges will also be taken from deposit. Double doors lead out to a fenced off area of a large garden. Lots of local shops in Teignmouth town along with pubs and restaurants and takeaways. There is a Waitrose supermarket in town and about 1 mile away is a Morrisons supermarket. Mainline train station is a five minute walk away from the property and there are lots of different bus routes from town that take you to Exeter, Plymouth and Dartmoor. The previous owners of this house had massively neglected it and let it fall into a terrible state of disrepair - it was pretty much derelict when we bought it. It had no staircase, water, electricity or gas supply. The roof let in approximately 40 litres of water every time it rained and the windows were all rotten. Over the last 9 years we have lovingly restored it - replaced the rotten windows; had a new roof (and insulation!) fitted, a new heating system has been installed and we have tastefully decorated with colours representative of the era it was built. We've given the house a little bit of dignity back. It's an on going project though so please take into consideration it's not a modern, double glazed property and you might feel a draught here and there!
We're a five minute walk from the beach and the town centre; as we're located on the top of a hill, we have the most magnificent views out to sea, estuary and the moors. It's an idyllic location and a beautiful house.

The Church house Inn dates back to the 13th century, full of old world charm and steeped in history. Nestled in the valley of Torbryan and about a mile into the country lanes. It is the prettiest little picture postcard hamlet. Many local people love the Church House Inn and will make you feel very welcome. There is restaurant and bar and also a few ghosts. There are several other pubs and Inns with in a mile or two of ipplepen and include the Copper Dollar, the Monks Retreat, the Union Inn, the Court Farm Inn, the Tally Ho, and the Pig & Whistle, all of which have a restaurants. While you are here I will be happy to help you with directions. Ipplepen is the pivotal point to start exploring the endless wonderful places to visit in south Devon. Turning right onto the A381 and drive just for 5.5 miles and you will reach the historic market town of Totnes. Built by the river Dart the town has one long narrow main street that seems to go up hill for ever, but don't worry there are many twee little shops to look in and interesting places to eat or have a coffee on your way up the hill. When you finally reach the top there is a fortress and from there you can enjoy the beautiful views across the town and surrounding country side. Totnes is bohemian and some say it is the centre of the universe. It has arts and culture and an odd kind of magic that gets under your skin. If you visit Totnes you will never forget. Turning left onto the A381 and 3.7 miles you will reach Newton Abbot market is town built over the river Lemon. A good place for general shops, restaurants and take-aways. Bakers park is on the outskirts of Newton Abbot, It has a large children's play area and several football pitches, it also has walks along the river lemon and is surrounded by Beech woodlands .very nice for a picnic. The English Riviera offers stunning coastal walks, seaside towns, fishing villages, estuaries and golden sandy beaches. There are so many places to see that I would need to write a book to tell you about them all. Locally I would recommend Shaldon, Dawlish and Dartmouth for their picturesque beauty and Torquay, Paignton, Broad-sands and Goodrington for sandy beaches for families with children. Turning your back to the coast and look inland and you will see the gently rolling landscape of Dartmoor, two hundred square miles of hills and valleys, Leets and rivers, open moorland, woodland and garnet tors. This magical place will lift your spirits and calm your sole. This is a place to escape humanity for a little while. Again one would have to write a book to tell you of its nature and wonders. Dartmoor is a place off fairy tales, myths and legends. If you would like to walk on the wild side I will guide and advise you on the best places to go. There are many safe places to enjoy and visit on Dartmoor but hill walking and climbing the tors need wisdom and orienteering skills There are many parks and places of interest to visit and enjoy for all ages and abilities . I have many pamphlets of interest ready for you to look through. For the young visitor there are beer and music festivals and Torquay has several night clubs. For every one there is the Dartmouth steam railway, family fun parks and Paignton Zoo is just fabulous, Plymouth Seahorse aquarium is another family attraction and really worth a visit. There really is something for everyone no matter what your age or interest.

  • Wendyn ja Lee: n paikka on täsmälleen kuvattu. Se on lähellä ruokapaikkoja, kuten kiinalaisia, kalaa ja siruja, intialaisia ja pubeja jne. Talo on puhdas.

    Dorothee2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Uskomaton talo, upeat isännät, loistava sänky ja makuuhuone, upea sijainti. Fantastinen.

  • Todella ihana paikka pysyä. Wendy on lämmin, avulias, ystävällinen, mukava ja hyvä kommunikaattori. Tunsin itseni turvalliseksi, tervetulleeksi ja hyvin kotona hänen talossaan. Erittäin suositeltavaa!

    Torquay, English Riviera, Britannia

The barn is nestled in a small hamlet with a handful of houses and makes the perfect base for a spot of isolation. You will be hard pushed to bump into anyone. Get away and soak up our wonderful view over Devon countryside and the fresh air! We take our guests’ health seriously, ensuring every surface is cleaned with disinfectant and we use high water temperatures for all our washing. We also provide cleaning products, soap and hand wash that you can use during your stay.
Our barn is stocked with essential food items as well as an ‘honesty’ mini bar. We also provide logs for the fire, plenty of magazines, books, games, WiFi and a TV. Most guests don’t even need to see or interact with us, the hosts, but only if they wish to, at a safe distance. Our closest village, Stoke Gabriel, is still open for business with a well-stocked village shop offering free food deliveries and The River Shack on the water front of the River Dart is open for al fresco dining and take-away wood-fired pizza. There are countless green lanes, fields, paths, hills, coastal walks and valleys to traipse over with little human contact. We can provide you with a list of all the spots where you can visit. Our place nestles in the small hamlet of Aish above the village of Stoke Gabriel near Totnes. Sit in front of the wood burning stove and peer out of the double height window to the fields and the river Dart beyond. Some mornings, you’ll see our resident male pheasant strutting his stuff on the garden wall. Occasionally, you may also spot a deer or two in the orchard or fields below. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Please see below, and our house manual, for a list of our eco credentials. We have used high quality fixtures and fittings throughout. The king sized bed is super comfy. The sofa bed is brand new and is a pull-out version rather than one of those uncomfortable fold out ones! The kitchen has been made bespoke by a local artisan and comes equipped with everything you might need including a full size oven, microwave and a small hob. As the space is small we can't include absolutely everything but please do ask us if you need anything at all! We also leave essentials such as tea, coffee, milk, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper ready in the kitchen making it that much easier to relax the minute you arrive. The garden is adjacent to our own but has its own little terrace with a small table and chairs - as well as a BBQ. We have kept the place as uncluttered as possible to allow guests to escape the everyday. However, if there is anything you feel you need please just ask and I'm sure we can provide it! Please note that it is best to have your own transport if staying with us as Aish has no amenities. The closest shop, pubs and restaurants are in the village of Stoke Gabriel which is a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk away. We are environmentally minded and do as much as we can to help lower our impact on the planet. Here are a few of the things we do: The barn is run entirely on electricity and therefore uses no fossil fuels. We have a 4kw solar panel system on our roof that helps generate electricity for the barn. For any further electricity we use Bulb Energy, which buys all of its electricity from renewable sources. We use biodegradable bin liners and recycled loo/ kitchen rolls. We use refillable options for cleaning products and washing powders that do not come in plastic. We use entirely organic ingredients in our scones and leave you organic, local milk. The teabags we choose (Clipper) have no plastic in them unlike most teabags. You will find reusable shopping bags for you to use in the kitchen. We provide a water filter so you don't need to buy bottled water. We recycle as much as possible.
A short drive away, nearby Stoke Gabriel is a lively village with a well-stocked village shop, two pubs, a BYO bistro, and a cafe on the waterfront by the Mill Pond. Totnes and all its restaurants, cafes, and shops is also close by car.
