Wirksworth is a vibrant, arty market town with great pubs and restaurants. It boasts a number of independent shops including vintage and antique shops, delis and coffee shops. Within 2 minutes of open countryside.

Pysyisi varmasti uudelleen.

    Lauren2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Meillä oli fantastinen yöpyminen panimopuistossa. Se on kodikas, mukava ja hyvin varustettu. Ennen kaikkea sen hyvää hauskaa! Steve tervehti meitä lämpimästi ja on loistava isäntä. Brew-talo sijaitsee erinomaisella paikalla Wirksworthin keskustassa ja on ihanteellinen tukikohta ympäröivälle alueelle. Tulemme takaisin, vain ensi kerralla! PS Stones -ravintola on pakollinen, mutta sinun täytyy varata ja Chatsworth House on kaunis paikallinen nähtävyys.

    Francesca2019-06-08T00:00:00Z

    Sarah2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brewhouse on omituinen, kodikas, bijou ja täynnä luonnetta. Aseta kauniiseen aidattuun puutarhaan koko paikka haihtuu historiaan.

    Tom2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Steve on erittäin tervetullut isäntä, jolla on paljon tietoa paikallisesta alueesta. Brew House on loistava muotoilu, erittäin mukava ja viihtyisä. Suosittelisin.

  • Super söpö Airbnb. Emme pysyneet tarpeeksi kauan.

A very old stone cottage but newly renovated inside. The cottage was my home, my children were all brought up there. I now live in a barn at the top of the driveway which we tried to build in as energy saving way as we could. During the cottage renovation we have tried to make the space as 'green' as possible.
The cottage was our family home for 20years and since moving out into the renovated barn we've given the cottage a full makeover. Downstairs there is a modern kitchen, dining room to seat 8, a main living room with a log burning fire and a second living room that can be used as a 4th bedroom. There's also a bathroom, utility room and drying room - an absolute essential for those wet wearied walking returning from the peaks. Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. One double, one double or twin (depending on what arrangement you would like) and one set of bunk beds. The highlight of the property to me is the conservatory at the rear - what used to be a working greenhouse has been converted into a beautiful space to sit and relax in the morning and afternoon sun.
The cottage is ideally located to get into the outdoors - walking, climbing, biking, canoeing, or whatever takes your fancy! Matlock town is a 20 minute walk along the road or 30 minutes along the new cycle trail and footpath. The local tourist attractions of Matlock Bath, the market town of Bakewell or the spa town of Buxton and the stately homes of Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall are all on the local bus routes. I've put various leaflets in the desk in the living room that you can browse at your leisure. If you want more suggestions for what to do just ask!

Jane on erittäin ystävällinen. Erittäin viihtyisä ja rentouttava paikka yöpyä.

    Malinda2019-02-19T00:00:00Z

A cosy, quirky 17th/19th century cottage with simple charm. Small, stone, single storey one bed dwelling that used to be the village shop. Log burner in the spacious lounge. A kitchen with everything you need and it's own secret garden with views of Riber castle which can be seen whilst sitting in the rustic garden room. The cottage will be at your complete disposal, from the photos you can see there is a spacious lounge, a compact but fully working kitchen with all the utensils you require, if the weather is bad you could build a log fire and bake a cake! A spacious double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with a large walk in shower. Included in the price is bedding, linen and towels, tea, coffee and sugar. There is a log burner but you need to bring your own logs. First fire made up. Parking is on the road outside the cottage or just down the hill in the village square. The outside space includes a small garden with a rustic garden room where you can enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the distant view of Riber Castle or just lock up your bikes. From the garden a gate opens onto to the public footpath that takes you down to Wensley Dale, a very beautiful area with rare breed sheep wandering around and wild flowers everywhere. From here you could walk into Snitterton or climb Oaker Hill the views are stunning!
Thank you for looking at Needham Cottage, Wensley. A pretty stone village which was once a thriving lead miners community. The garden can be reached via the ginnel, ie turn left from the back door, keep walking until you see the gate with Number Three on it, that is us. Here you can enjoy the view and see Riber Castle in the distance. Togetherwith the unusual upcycled garden room, table and chairs. A public footpath passes the garden gate and this leads you down into Wensley Dale, not the Wensleydale where the cheese comes from but our own dale of outstanding natural beauty. The Area The Derbyshire Dales is a place of wooded valleys, with an occasional steam train chugging through, passing sparkling rivers with their ancient stone bridges and rolling green hills sprinkled with picturesque villages with their unique shops, cosy pubs and cobbled yards. Don't miss the Barley Mow at Bonsal or Wirksworth. There is plenty to do and see from arts and crafts festivals, pop festivals, antiques shops and fairs, markets, historic houses like Chatsworth and medieval Haddon Hall. Quiet retreat adjoining open countryside Warning Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th July 2020 is Winster secret garden weekend. The village is exceptionally busy. Therefore if you are not interested in gardens that weekend is best avoided.
The Anchorage cottage is situated in a peaceful corner of the village of Winster in the Peak District National Park adjoining open countryside. Photo 10. There are beautiful walks literally from the door step. The White Peak Trail is 250 meters from the cottage. Photo 11 is taken from the field behind the cottage . Dating from the 18th century this lead miners cottage has been sympathetically restored and now offers self catering accommodation throughout the year. The Double bedroom overlooks the village and surrounding countryside. The en suite shower room has a wash basin shower and toilet. The sitting room has a TV and radio. The kitchen is separated from the sitting room by a breakfast bar. It is equipped with gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave and small cooker. Washing machine in separate building. The cottage is heated by gas central heating..There is a large well kept secure garden. Car parking on the premises, and free wifi.
The Bowling Green 100 meters from the cottage is a cosy typical village pub. This pub is very popular. I recommend that you book a table if you intend to have a meal there. There is a well stocked community shop and post office in the village which is open seven days a week.

A unique opportunity to stay in one of Derbyshire’s historic country homes; Riber Hall Manor. Riber Hall dates from the 1400’s. This beautifully restored Elizabethan manor house is situated in Riber, a tiny hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall. In 1724, the hall was split it into two halves. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with its deep history and authentic English country charm.
The hidden secret of Riber Hall Manor. Built by the Ribergh family, this Grade II* listed Elizabethan manor house was home to the famous Derbyshire Wolley family until 1668. During the Civil War, Riber Hall was a royalist stronghold and it is rumoured that a secret passageway exists from the hall to Dethick where the Babington’s lived. Anthony Babington was an English nobleman who was convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth 1st of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall and indeed one of our bedrooms would suggest this. By 1724, the hall was owned by the Chappel family and two sisters divided the hall and split it into two halves. One half of this romantic home was previously known as a highly regarded country house hotel. Meanwhile, the other untouched side seems to have been forgotten over the years, until now. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with authentic and fascinating English country charm, plus a deep history that we love to share with our guests. Riber is a hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales, situated high on a hill overlooking Matlock; boasting some of the most dramatic views in Derbyshire.
Riber is a tiny hamlet, just two miles from the spa town of Matlock, 5 minutes by car from Cromford and Matlock Bath. Local attractions include Gullivers Kingdom, The Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House (home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire) and Haddon Hall. Bakewell and Ashbourne are both a short car journey away.

Hidden away in beautiful Wensley Dale, locations don't come much better than this. There are superb views across the valley on all the lovely walks from The Forge. A brisk evening stroll along the road by the river will soon get you to the Three Stags and Square and Compass pubs in Darley Bridge. A lovely, traditional little terraced cottage located high above Matlock Bath, with stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside. Pretty, comfortable and sympathetically furnished throughout, this Matlock Bath cottage is ideal for a small family or group of friends to enjoy the delights of this beautiful part of the Peak District.
Despite being only a few minutes from the centre of Matlock Bath, the cottage is on a tranquil terrace high above the bustle. It's warm in winter and cool in the summer. Despite being new to Airbnb, we have been letting this property to great reviews for over four years.
The immediate neighbourhood is quiet, but Matlock Bath is full of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are lots of things to do including taking the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham or walking along the river and canal or up in the hills. There are many other towns and villages close by such as Bakewell and Cromford.

Our house is situated on the edge of Wirksworth in Millers Green, its 15 – 20 minute stroll into the centre of town either over the fields along a well-defined footpath or along the road and walking distance to Haarlem Mill. It is in a private cul-de- sac of just four houses so does not suffer from any traffic noise.
The guest bedroom which has one double bed is an excellent size with wonderful views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside. There is a wardrobe and drawers available for you to use, there is also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The separate modern bathroom is for your private use, it has an electric shower, washbasin, toilet and bath. Our conservatory is lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down over the hills in the summer. Our garden is very colourful during the summer months and is constantly evolving, and provides another lovely place to sit and relax - bring your own wine and use our outdoor furniture for a ‘chill out’ evening. We will provide a simple breakfast suitable for vegetarians of juice, cereals, toast, fruit and yogurt along with preserves (homemade where possible), please let us know any other dietary requirements. You can also use our kitchen for the preparation and cooking of evening meals (by arrangement so were not falling over ourselves). If you wanted to eat in from the local take outs or have a simple supper or lunch of cheese, bread and wine etc. (there is a bakery & Co-Op in the center of Wirksworth which offer delightful treats) then we’ll make crockery, cutlery, glasses and space available for your use.
Wirksworth is a fairly unique and historic town full of odd nooks and crannies and the ancient and fascinating church of St Mary nestles in its small cathedral-like precinct in the centre. It has many independent shops and coffee / tea establishments. There are a number of fine pubs, some serving meals. There is also a splendid French style bistro (La Minstrel) which opens daily - advanced bookings are recommended for weekends. A little further afield many of the surrounding villages also offer additional fine dining. Wirksworth has a fuel filling station and a large Co-Op. Wirksworth also has its own heritage railway (The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway) who operate passenger services on the line between Wirksworth and Duffield mainly using heritage diesel railcars and occasionally steam locomotives. The town has well-dressings during Whitson week, and every September there is the unusual ceremony of 'Clypping', in which the church is encircled by the congregation holding hands around it. Wirksworth has the well-known Arts Festival, which happens over a September weekend. The Festival includes all forms of Art, with the Market Square the centre for music, dance and street acts while many of the houses around the village play host to many different forms of artistic expression. Tours and tour maps can be bought in the local shops during the festival. Being on the edge of the Peak District National Park and the White Peak there are many fine walks available to suit all abilities and a number can be done from our front door. Carsington Reservoir circular track is within a 30 minute walk of our home as is the traffic free High Peak trail which is suitable for walking and cycling (cycle hire is available locally). Famous Dovedale with its ‘stepping stones’ is only a short drive away. For the more energetic the gritstone edges and wild moors of the Dark Peak are only a 50 minute drive away. The historic town of Bakewell, the stately homes of Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Kedleston Hall are all within 30 minutes by car. Matlock and Matlock Bath with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham a short 10 minute drive. The National Stone Centre, Derbyshire Eco Centre and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre also have their homes in Wirksworth. We are also with easy reach of a number of local wedding venues including Haarlem Mill (10 min walking distance), Shottle Hall and Alison House among others.

Situated in Bolehill, a short walk from Wirksworth centre, it's superbly situated for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District. 4 Miles from Matlock,

The high peak trail is on our doorstep along with glorious walking and cycling. There is also secure storage for bikes or other sports equipment in a brick store directly opposite the cottage. The words quirky, different and special are often used to describe Wirksworth. A fascinating small town on the Southern edge of the Peak District where the geology and landscape have shaped its character and its people for generations. On a Royal visit, Prince Charles once referred to the town as ‘Quirksworth’. Having had an industrious past and mixed fortunes relating to the industry available, Wirksworth is now known for its independent shops and cafes, annual arts festival, bustling music scene and dozens of artists and creatives who live and work in the town. The town is nestled at the head of the Ecclesbourne Valley surrounded by beautiful countryside with delightful walks and stunning views. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway (Derbyshires longest heritage railway) is a stone's throw away.

  • Kaunis mökki, josta on upeat näkymät.
