We had a fantastic stay at Juliet's. Fantastically located within Ambleside (so a stone's throw away from the shops eateries - that suit all types and budgets) but also with amazing views of the fells and within minutes of an idyllic walk to a waterfall (great for my morning walk with Luna). As others have noted, the house is really well equipped, including the kitchen (both equipment and spices, jams etc). All in all - a great house, great location and anyone who visits is sure to have a great stay.

This is a beautiful home in a great location, close to all Ambleside shops and restaurants as well as a great base for walks. You can tell that Juliet has carefully designed and decorated the house and the kitchen is very well stocked. The bathroom is gorgeous! One thing to note is if you find steps difficult then the bedrooms are on the top floor and it's a steep flight of steps. Juliet was in touch throughout and check in and out was easy. Overall I'd highly recommend this place and would love to stay again. Thank you Juliet!

Juliets home is very centrally in Ambleside. It's very well equipped, loads of kitchen equipments, several maps and booklets for hikes starting in Ambleside, many places to sit, good bathroom. The rooms are not very big, but big enough for 3-4 people. The home has three floor, two staircases. The stairs might be hard to climb for elderly and are not convenient for children, as she described in her ad. We had excellent communication with Juliet, she was very helpful and responded quickly. Do read the description of where you can find the home carefully, we had some trouble finding it... One remark concerns the parking: there are no free parking options during the day, at least, we couldn't find them. We parked our car at a parking lot for 30pounds for 7 days. This was fine.

The house is beautifully presented and perfectly located! Tis was our first experience using airbnb so we were really pleased! Juliet was on hand to answer anything we needed to know and was really helpful. At the time of staying we had a 5 year old and an almost 3 year old and the house suited our needs, with the home from him feel we wanted. Ambleside is a lovely place and as a young family we would recommend a walk around Tarn Hows, the Beatrix Potter Attraction and a little visit to The Rock Shop in Ambleside itself. We will certainly be retiring and recommending this beautiful house to others.

100% recommend a stay here, it's a gorgeous house in a perfect location, every last detail has been thought of and is so homely to come back to after a day out. Location is right in the middle of the village and lots of places to wander around, and great for food and drinks too. Very easy to reach other places to visit around windemere also. Would defiantly return:-)

We were welcomed by Jackie and Paul who were very friendly. We were shown the accommodation and very definitely made to feel welcome and relaxed. The location of the cottage is stunning and a rare chance to have a peaceful and private jetty on this historic lake. A real haven. the drive to get to Belle Grange is narrow and windy but the directions we were given were faultless and we found it with no trouble. I think another trip is very likely to this beautiful place.

Absolutely fantastic! Jackie and Paul were lovely. Very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Despite the typical lake district weather we had an incredible time. The cottage is very nice and access to the private jetty was awesome. Would highly recommend this place.

Jackie was very accommodating offering us a warm welcome after arriving much later than anticipated due to poor traffic. The cottage is set on beautiful grounds in a very quiet location, bit of a distance from civilisation but everything is easily accessible if you enjoy a good walk, or are happy to jump in the car. The cottage itself is stunning and Jackie was kind enough to stock the kitchen with various breakfast items and condiments Including bread milk porridge and eggs. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable but that would be our only critique everything else was perfect and well worth the stay. Thanks jackie.

Everything was perfect, we felt erg welcomed and made for a lovely relaxing getaway in the lakes. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

As we arrived after dark, Paul was on hand to welcome us and show us around the cottage. He had very kindly lit the fire for us and it made the cottage very warm and cosy. Cottage was very clean and the breakfast goodies were very much appreciated. If you are looking for a little piece of Heaven, then look no further than The Grooms Cottage. It was very quiet and tranquil which is just what we needed. The cottage is close to Hawkshead and Ambleside and there are plenty of lovely walks around the area. We will definitely return in the summer for a longer stay.

This cozy cottage is in a gorgeous location just by the shore of the lake. A lovely quiet and tranquil place with walks in all directions. The cottage itself is extremely well appointed and furnished with lots of thoughtful extras. It even has a real fire in the kitchen. Jackie and Paul made us feel very welcome. What an amazing place. The hosts couldn't do enough for you and the little unexpected touches were just delightful. The whole break was heaven. We felt right at home from the start.

My husband and I have just returned from staying five nights at Green End House. Paul is a fantastic host and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He was really helpful in providing us with his recommendations for places to eat and find a good beer, including places in Hawkshead which is a convenient 10 minutes walk away. He also suggested some good walks from the house, which we enjoyed. The house is lovely and all the rooms, including the bedroom, have glorious views of the countryside and beyond towards Esthwaite. The room was large and the comfy bed with crisp white linen. The breakfast Paul provided was delicious and perfect to set you up for a walking day ahead. Nothing was too much trouble and Paul made every effort to make our stay a home away from home.

I had a lovely stay at Greenend House. I can't recommend this place highly enough and Paul was the perfect host, we were sorry not to be staying for longer and will definitely book again. This is a really quiet unspoilt area of the lakes, with a gorgeous woodland walk seconds from the house - we were the only people in there! A beautiful location. The house itself is a really grand but welcoming national trust house. With views from the bedroom onto fields and Esthwaite water. The room had everything we needed, the bed was really comfy! Great nights sleep and woke to a wonderful breakfast cooked by Paul of locally sourced produce to set us up for our days walking. Thanks Paul and thanks for pointing us in the direction of the Drunken Duck, we had a great lunch there too. See you again soon for a longer stay next time..

Paul was an excellent host. We arrived especially late due to getting lost. I would suggest you have daylight to navigate roads as they can be narrow. Paul had dinner ready for us since we arrived so late and didn't have time to stop. We were a party of three women so we stayed in two bedrooms and shared a bath. Beds were very comfortable. And the views from the rooms were amazing. Breakfast was very good too. It is a beautiful historic home in a lovely setting.

We were looking for a quick overnight recharge and Paul was a superb host. Bed is extremely comfortable and room is quiet. The view from the window is worth the trip alone. Paul could have not been more helpful, providing a light-touch warmth that meant we could check-in quickly and begin relaxing. Breakfast is lovely and highly-convivial. We will be back!

Beautiful scenic location, easy walk to shop and pubs of Hawkshead. Very comfortable bedrooms in a National Trust homestead. Paul and his little dog, Lola, are the friendliest hosts.

Very small quibble about the size of breakfast. All delicious, but too much for some perhaps. Very comfortable, peaceful old house with interesting history. Some lovely artworks and old furniture. And of course the delightful Lola!

This room is exactly as advertised. Very cosy and comfortable and the local pub does good food and beer. We slept brilliantly. Very laid back host and everything we needed for an over night stay between two long Hill walks.

We stopped at Pippa's for one night after a trip to Scotland and the room was the perfect place to relax and have a great night's sleep. Not far from Windermere and just north of Kendal so perfect location for walking or touring. Beautiful room exactly like the pictures. Although no breakfast there was fresh fruit and homemade flapjack as well as tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The room is fantastic. Nicely furnished, complete with en-suite and separate from the main house (connected by a conservatory-style walkway). I believe the room is a new refurbishment of a barn, it certainly looked newly decorated. Tea and coffee facilities, etc, were also provided. Pippa is very friendly and I enjoyed chatting with her in the morning. Her communication throughout the booking was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

We loved being removed from the "hot spots" of the Lakes, but yet still so close to explore. The added bonus was the immense beauty of Ings surrounding the home (plenty of hills to wander up) and the Watermill brew pub that served excellent beer and food. Pippa and her family gave us absolute privacy and freedom.

A truly amazing house. A wonderful location, spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything you could think of and a true credit to its owners. Bracken Howe is absolutely spectacular. It has been decorated and equipped to the highest standard. Little touches such as slippers, chocolates on your pillow, toiletries in each of the en suites and a full hamper on arrival make the experience even more memorable. From the outset the host was incredible. We had lots of information on the property, what was provided, recommendations on things to do and places to eat. On arrival at the house, we were completely overwhelmed by how beautiful it was. It was stunning and is the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect. Too much to mention but the crisp white bed sheets, fluffy towels, hairdryers in every room, newly decorated living area, the grand dining area and a kitchen which has every utensil, and appliance you could ever imagine. There were lots of games, DVD's and computer consoles to keep the children occupied. We are truly thankful to the host for allowing us to stay in her beautiful property. A true luxury house with very accurate descriptions. We were speechless as the owner really had thought of everything and it was apparent that this is a home which is very well cared for. We loved the hot tub too. We will definitely return after what was a memorable stay. I just cannot recommend this property highly enough. It deserves a 5 star rating across the board as it was a truly lovely experience in every way. We would like to extend our gratitude to the host for allowing us to stay at this amazing place.

we had a wonderful week at Bracken Howe. 4 generations of one family-9 adults and one baby. The house is located only a few minutes from town's center ,beautifully decorated,with a nice garden and a hot tub. Janet prepared a bath for the baby and a nice welcome basket. The kitchen is large with all the necessary equipment.We cooked there all together... Thank you Janet.

Everyone who stayed at Braken Howe in our party really loved everything about the property. We were a group of 7 in the end and there was more than enough room everyone. The house is really well sited in Ambleside just a short walk from the centre. Janet was very attentive in replying to any questions I had both before and after confirming the booking and the whole stay went without any problems. A welcome hamper was left on arrival for us which was a really lovely touch. The fact we also managed to use the hot tub on a clear winters night was the icing on the cake for a great family and friends holiday.

A very fine cottage ideal for 2 couples within walking distance of Ambleside towncenter. The cottage was as described - clean, wellequipped and with a wonderfull view from the window in the sittingroom. There was hardly any traffic noise. An ideal place to stay while visiting Lake District.

Great cottage, wonderful location and super views! All in all a comfortable and enjoyable stay and will certainly recommend. One thing that I would have hoped for would be some of the basic supplies - tea, coffee, sugar, towels etc. Just makes the arrival a bit easier when we can throw a cuppa on
