Craftsman style with beautiful woodwork details, this small studio is a perfect getaway at the base of Cerrito Blanco mountain in Abiquiu - the heart of Tewa country. Though the studio is small, there is a bright & equipped kitchen and a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights! In colder months, we provide a space heater that keeps the inside space very warm and cozy. We are 1.5 miles from Bode’s General Store, very close to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum and Plaza Blanca.
This rustic artisan studio has a sleeping area with comfortable futon with a memory foam mattress topper that sleeps 2, a bright, well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom, as well as a covered outdoor patio. Gorgeous woodwork details adorn the entire place, and you'll surely enjoy having dinner on the covered porch, as well as coffee or tea in the morning! If you are looking for an inspiring, bright and beautiful space with stunning views of Abiquiu and the Rio Chama, look no further. This studio is perfect for a single person or couple. It is a cozy and tranquil place to call home while you explore the surrounding areas of Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Georgia O’Keeffe’s home/studio and museum, the Rio Chama and Abiquiu Lake. We supply fresh ground coffee, half & half, green and black tea and a French press coffee maker. We supply a fan and this side of the building stays somewhat cooler, especially the sleeping area. The kitchen runs hotter as it has a skylight. Why rustic? We say rustic because: 1. We have a sensitive septic system. The toilet cannot take toilet paper, so must be deposited in the covered wastebasket provided. 2. The shower is European style (free-standing), located inside the bathroom. A squeegee may be used to get excess water into the drain. So, a little rustic, yes, but always clean!
The studio is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. We are also a short 3 minute drive to Abiquiu Pueblo & Georgia O'Keeffe's home/studio, 6 miles from stunning Abiquiu Lake, 12 miles from Ghost Ranch, and 30 miles from Ojo Caliente where you can take a relaxing soak in the healing mineral springs. Nearby hikes take you off the beaten path, up to petroglyphs and 1,000 year old archeological sites. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique studio makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked.

T R A N Q U I L O A tranquil and rustic experience secluded yet easily accessible on a hillside below the stunning Cerrito Blanco in Abiquiu. This large, 24-foot yurt makes the perfect weekend or week-long getaway for a couple or family looking for a unique experience. Sip your coffee (an organic medium roast is provided) on the deck, practice yoga, meditate, read/write, gaze up at the Milky Way, bird watch and take in the beauty of the Chama River Valley, right in the heart of Tewa country!
T H E S E T T I N G Step outside and you’re in a high desert paradise, at 6,000 feet elevation in the Chama River Valley. Step inside the Yurt and marvel at the Central Asian decor, craftsman style with stunning woodwork details. There is a bright & equipped kitchen, bathroom with European-style shower, indoor seating area with a futon and breakfast bar, as well as a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights. The Annex is located about 50 steps down a path (outside) from the Yurt. You will have to walk down the path from the Yurt to use the bathroom or kitchen. S L E E P I N G A R R A N G E M E N T S The yurt has a brand new Queen memory foam mattress as of January 2020, a twin bed with a trundle (also a twin), and a comfortable couch for another to sleep. In the main building (50 steps outside down a path) is another full size futon with a comfortable memory foam topper. The Yurt can accommodate 5 people comfortably. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the set-up, and we encourage you to read our reviews to get a better idea of this truly unique and unforgettable accommodation experience! A R U S T I C E X P E R I E N C E *This is a rustic experience and not ideal for guests with mobility issues or guests who are uncomfortable with keeping a wood burning stove going for heat in the middle of the night.* Please read ALL of the details before booking. Thank you :) Why we call this a "Rustic" experience: 1. You will have to walk outside about 50 steps between the Annex (Kitchen/Bathroom space) up to the Yurt. We are in the high desert, at 6,000 ft elevation. Bring slippers and a jacket and expect chilly weather at night! We will provide headlamps. 2. We have a rural septic system. All toilet paper must be discarded in the covered bin provided. 3. The shower is a standing, "in-bathroom" European style shower -- no doors or tub. A squeegee is provided to clear excess water into the drain after showering. 4. The Yurt can run hot in the summer months, especially June, July and August. Windows can be opened to provide more ventilation, but please be aware that in the heat of the day (between 12-5pm) it can get very warm in there. The Annex does have a futon couch and a very nice outdoor patio that gets great ventilation during the day, and is a great place to hang out. 5. In colder months (October-April), most guests will heat the yurt with the wood burning stove. We provide wood and kindling throughout your stay, however you'll be required to feed the fire hourly throughout the night to keep warm and cozy. We also provide space heaters to keep the chill off, if you prefer not to wake up and stoke the fire throughout the night, however it will be cold with just a space heater, especially on nights with below-freezing temperatures. Again, this is rustic and part of the experience. Most of our guests are happy to feed the fire. If you are highly sensitive to or uncomfortable with the cold, please consider booking the Yurt at a warmer time of year (May-September), or consider sleeping in the Annex -- a smaller space with a space heater that is much more efficient. Please let us know if you intend to do so, so we can make the bed there for you. 6. Rural living is rustic! There is wind! And dust! And sometimes small critters! We pride ourselves in taking great care of our guests, but if you're looking for a five star resort type of experience, this might not be the best place for you. Most of our guests leave with a very memorable experience, and many return! If there is anything we can do to make your stay extra special, please let us know.
The yurt is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked. There are just a few restaurants in Abiquiu. Mamacita's Pizzeria (closed Mondays), Bode's General Store has a deli with takeout and dine-in options, and the Abiquiu Inn has a great restaurant. A 20 minute drive to El Rito and you can experience a classic New Mexican family restaurant, El Farolito. Check the current hours and be sure to bring cash.

A twenty-foot Crow style tipi, in a cottonwood glen, on the banks of the Chama river. The tipi is private with its own composting outhouse. It shares a nearby blowup hot tube. A minute's walk away are an outdoor kitchen, outdoor hot water shower, infrared sauna, and deck. There are 2 twin and 2full beds on colorful rugs. Mosquito netting can be lowered. over each bed. Beautiful but rustic, it's like camping in a beautiful place in a beautiful tent--with a refrigerator.
Morning light through the canvas is beautiful. Sunset from the deck is beautiful. Standing under cottonwoods while hot water pours down is beautiful. All the beauty and difficulty of camping except that the camp has been set up for you, with hot water and a full kitchen.
Five minutes from Georgia O'Keefe welcome center. Five minutes from the O'Keefe tour. Twenty minutes from Ghost Ranch. On the Chama River.

Chama and especially the Brazos Cliffs area of Chama, where Aspen Lodge cabin is located, is the premiere vacation spot in Northern New Mexico. Fishing in the neighborhood trout pond and famous Brazos River, hiking, exploring, 2 major lakes- Heron Lake and ElVado Lake are all in the area. Chama is also home to the famous Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, with its stream powered locomotives. Aspen Lodge makes WHERE you stay a key focal point of your trip to Chama.
Aspen Lodge is nestled in a beautiful Aspen Grove in the back of our property and tall pines and aspens in the front. It is a beautiful setting with tree covered lanes that are green, cool, and wonderful to walk on. It's truly a forest setting. Deer visit our lodge pretty much every day and are abundant in the area. They are used to seeing people which allows for some great up-close photos.. so bring your cell phone/camera. They are most frequently on our property in the morning and in the late afternoon. Aspen Lodge has a large rear deck overlooking the aspens with views of the Brazos. There are also views from among the aspens. We also have a front porch where you can sit and enjoy the feeling of the forest. We have a nice gas barbecue grill on the back deck, and a glass front wood stove in the living room, so you can enjoy the fire on those cool mountain evenings. Fishing is really great in our neighborhood. We have a trout pond about a seven minute walk from the lodge. Access for fishing the Brazos River...one of the best trout rivers in the state, is also right in our neighborhood. In the winter, you can snowshoe and back country ski right out our door. The deer tend to form larger herds during this time and we've had groups of twenty or more right out our door.
Aspen Lodge is right in the Brazos Cliffs/ Brazos Lodge area. You can hike up to the highest waterfall in New Mexico (over 1000' high), hike along quiet country roads and trails, bring your ATVs, fish in the Brazos or our neighborhood trout pond, and relax on our spacious rear deck, taking in the scenery and enjoying the wildlife that frequent our location. Deer are abundant.

With a rustic feel and "Pinterest-like" design, Sunflower Canyon Casita nestles you in the Abiquiu Chama River Valley and red cliffs edging the Colorado Plateau. Stunning aspen-pine bedroom sets contrast with enchanting tones of turquoise and beige, both rooms hosting amazing feature walls. The quirky, rusty metal exterior is mimicked throughout the casita, transitioning fluidly. Walk to the Chama River, sit around the fire, hike Ghost Ranch, relax at Ojo just 35min away, and stay with us!
Experience a one-of-a-kind designed space! Bedroom one has the entry door and one queen bed, and the second bedroom in the back has two twin/single beds. The Airbnb accommodates up to four people in total, though for comfortability with space, we recommend three or less. The front room has a privacy curtain, and the back room has a barn door. Thus, they are not sound proof but offer a barrier for privacy. Smoking on the property is highly discouraged due to family sensitivities and asthma triggers. If you do have to smoke, detailed use and disposal instructions may be found in the house manual after booking. Thank you for understanding this matter. INDOORS: - Toaster/microwave - Mini Fridge - Keurig coffee machine with coffee/tea - Hot Plate - TV with DVDs and HDMI cable for playing personal content - Oatmeal, popcorn, granola bars, hot cocoa complimentary - Dishes/cups/pots/pans/utensils/grilling tools/scrubber & soap - Prep surface with cutting board - Radiant heated floors in the bathroom! - Electric fireplace - Winter - individual room heaters / Summer - two air conditioners (each bedroom) - Board games! OUTDOORS: - Hammock, table and 6 chairs and grill with a side burner for cooking with pans. - Access to the Chama River (5min walk) *fishing access - Small table and two chairs on the portal, lounge chair with cushion - Several adirondack chairs in outside grill area - Fire pit and comfy chairs and couch with extra seating. Wood provided by host if requested. - Plenty of nearby hikes, and you may drive to Abiquiu Lake in 5min and go for a swim or have a picnic by the water!
Our Sunflower Canyon Casita orientation book will have plenty more information for when you arrive, but the basics of places and activities in Abiquiu and the larger area are covered here... SHOPPING/EATING: BODE'S GENERAL STORE - Has gas, made-to-order food dining (big portions), gifts/trinkets, merchandise, etc. THE FROSTY COW *seasonal - (Next to Bode's) A great spot to enjoy an ice cream cone or a thick shake (cash only!) PLAZA/TOWN - Has an old Spanish Catholic church, library, mercantile (open 7 days a week), hosts one of Georgia O'Keeffe's homes ABIQUIU INN - A wonderful place to check out the featured artwork from gallery artists, the gift shop, or to enjoy a quality meal GHOST RANCH EDUCATION/RETREAT CENTER - Meals in a dining hall setting. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. THE LAVENDER FARM - A great place to go to get some lavender products, have a healthy, light lunch, and eat lavender-y things, like gelato! MAMACITAS PIZZERIA - Some of the best pizza you can get in New Mexico (closed Mondays & Tuesdays). EL FAROLITO - Though far, about a 25-30min drive from the Airbnb, this small, local place hosts arguably the best Mexican food you can get out here, for a very reasonable price (~$10 per person, cash only!). Located in El Rito. Closed on Mondays. OJO CALIENTE MINERAL HOT SPRINGS - Soak in the serene pools in Ojo, located just 30min away from us. A wonderful spot for a fancy dinner, massage, and a soak! HIKING/ACTIVITIES: WALKING DISTANCE - Hike up Red Wash canyon, the arroyo (dry creek bed) adjacent to the house. It will take you up to some amazing sandstone outcroppings to a couple pour-offs. Takes maybe 20-30min one way. Of course, you may follow the canyon for a long half-day hike if you wish. - Walk to the Chama River in 5min from our house! Simply go out the side gate and follow the arroyo down to the river. Feel free to skip rocks or take a dip! My place is close to Abiquiu Lake, Ghost Ranch Conference Center, and Christ in the Desert Monastery. This is Georgia O'Keeffe country where many of her famous landscapes are on splendid display (even right out our front door.) Artist studios dot the area. Hiking and jeep trails are plentiful for active interests. High desert beauty invites solitude, contemplation, and creativity. La Tierra is especially good for retreat seekers, artists of every kind, adventurers, couples, and furry friends.
I have landed on "cinemagraphic" as the best keyword description of our area. All around us are lands that have been used for decades in motion pictures and you will feel the grandeur as you drive next to the cliffs of Ghost Ranch along Highway 84 and then cut over the Abiquiu Lake Dam in route to our off-the-beaten-track neighborhood of homes. My husband, Rick, and I bought land here in 2006 with a vision to build multi-structures in something of a hacienda style. It's been a slow but epic task so far with Rick doing 90% of the building himself. He's pretty much of a Marlboro Man sans cigarettes. This first structure is a glorified 3-bay garage. As our guests, you will step into this beginning stage of our building vision and our hopes to one day provide significant space for inspiration and work to artists of all disciplines - including ourselves.
Our property is part of a subdivision of 10-11 acre tracts called the High Mesas of Abiquiu. We are a gated community boasting some spectacular high-dollar homes and an exclusive boat ramp to Lake Abiquiu.

"Papelitos" is at the back of a beautiful canyon, on a private 43 acre property called "Moonglades". With 2 bdrms, a kitchen, dining room and plenty of spots to sit and talk, it is perfect for a family, 2 couples or a girls/guys get-away. Sit on the expansive deck and gaze at the enchanting northern New Mexico panorama, which is centered on Pedernal - Georgia O’Keeffe's beloved mountain. Just a 5 minute walk behind the house is a yoga platform and beyond that is Santa Fe National Forest.
Moonglades is our beautiful private 43 acre property which has 5 homes and a finished barn. This home is situated on the slope of a hill and features an expansive, majestic view of Pedernal from up close and personal. The home itself is meant to be a comfortable dwelling with a lot of windows and views of nature from inside. It's a fairly new building and is decorated with eclectic art collected from around the world. There is a wrap around deck with several nooks with comfy chairs and a hammock. It's the kind of spot where it's hard NOT to gaze at a wonderful view. We encourage you to explore Moonglades and the surrounding area. The views and access to nature invite exploration and engagement of many varieties. To help you ease into the flow of things we've strung hammocks around the property for you to discover and enjoy, provided a hill top yoga platform, a bocce ball court, a beautiful stone patio fire-pit, and we even have a high powered telescope that is available upon request to marvel at the starry sky (the onsite caretaker will help operate if you need a hand). New Mexico has very low light pollution and fantastic star gazing opportunities. Finally, we have a brand new finished barn (concrete floors, full kitchen and bathroom) which you will have access to. You're welcome to bring your art supplies and set-up a mini-studio in the barn, do some yoga on a hot day (we have a few yoga mats), or just hang out in the cool air and read a book. [Please note - any parties or events will need advance permission and will be for an additional fee]. Of note: There are two bathrooms. One has a tub only and one has a shower and a tub.
Cañones is in the heart of Georgia O'Keeffe country. The spirit and views that inspired her artwork are bound to have an amazing effect on anyone who steps foot in this paradise. Moonglades is adjacent to Santa Fe National Forest on 2 sides. Northern New Mexico is your oyster - use Moonglades as a launchpad, there are endless activities. Located in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, The Casita del Lago vacation home provides a unique lodging experience in an unrivaled lakefront location. Guests from as close as Santa Fe and as far away as New Zealand have discovered this spot in paradise, and many of them return year after year. This home is located on Abiquiu Lake, across the lake from Ghost Ranch, about 20 minutes outside of the village of Abiquiu in a spectacular setting away from the crowds and traffic.
The Casita del Lago (Little House on the Lake) is a custom adobe style home situated on 22 acres of lakefront property on Abiquiú Lake, inside a gated community. We designed the home to be situated in the rocky shore above Abiquiu Lake, with spectacular views of the lake and Chama River, Ghost Ranch, Cerro Pedernal, and Carson National Forest. Our guests have described it as "the most beautiful place on earth", "nirvana" and "the best vacation rental home they have ever stayed at". It is a special place, on special land, where you can truly experience the beauty and peace of The Land of Enchantment. The home has two bedrooms, two baths, a full and modern kitchen, an open concept family room, desk area and dining area, fireplace and laundry facilities. Outside, you will find heated patios, amazing spots to sit and take in the views, a BBQ grill, a hot tub built into the rocks, a fire pit overlooking the arroyo, a hiking path to the lake, 22 acres to explore, and a lakefront cove perfect for fishing and swimming. If you have kayaks, launch them at the nearby boat launch. THE HOME With 1,100 square feet of living space your vacation home will comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. The hand-carved wooden doors lead you into the open concept living space with comfortable couches, a fireplace, a desk, and bookshelf with games, puzzles and books. You will be welcomed by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake, the indigenous stone fireplace that warms the family room, and the authentic and comfortable furnishings. If you must, you can view cable TV on two high-definition TVs, use the complimentary WIFI or hook your phone up to the docking speaker system for music. The kitchen was remodeled in 2018 and is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, seasonings, spices and much more! The electric stove, refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave and dishwasher are all high-end and stainless appliances. A BBQ grill sits outside the sliding door on the back portal (patio). Enjoy your meals inside at a table for six that looks out onto the lake views or dine al fresco on the portal overlooking the lake. Or, be more adventurous and eat at the picnic table located amongst the rocks and trees. The two-bedroom suites are positioned at opposite ends of the home: the master has a king-sized bed, high-definition TV and ensuite bathroom and the guest suite has a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds with a shared bath. Luxurious linens, plush towels and amenities are stocked so you can enjoy a perfect vacation. Full size washer and dryers are in the home, along with laundry supplies. The home is like no other in terms of design and amenities. Imported granite countertops, custom handmade Spanish Pueblo arched doors, imported Mexican furniture, resort quality bedding and linens, authentic southwest lit niches, handmade Kiva lighting sconces, plastered interior walls, radiant floor heat, top rated appliances, indigenous rock wood burning fireplace, air conditioning, modern technology, and furnished outdoor living spaces. The east and west portals are attached with heated floors and one-of-a-kind views. The southern portal just off the kitchen offers warm, sunlit days in even the coolest high desert New Mexico temps. We subscribe to cable TV and the fastest Internet in the area - and both are offered to you free of charge. We also include firewood, laundry supplies, BBQ supplies and many spices/seasonings. Authentic southwestern art lines the walls – and every picture tells a story. We are proud to feature several works by local artist Brian Thomas who recreates Abiquiú vistas using rock. As wonderful as the home is indoors, it is just as amazing when you step outside. Lounge chairs facing the lake are the perfect spot for morning coffee. The outdoor table has an umbrella to provide shelter from sunny days. Chairs and a picnic table are located in various spots throughout the 22 acres. A six-person hot tub is nestled into the rocks overlooking the lake – a perfect spot for star gazing. As one of our guests said, “I’ve never seen stars like this or the Milky Way come to life”. Outside you can also enjoy the Stonehenge Fire Pit on the edge of the arroyo or enjoy the Chimenea on the portal. Explore the 22 acres of open spaces and settle in to one of the many outdoor seating areas. Hike down to the lake through arroyos. Bring your fishing poles, kayaks and canoes! Being lakefront property, we have our own cove at the water’s edge where you can swim, fish, explore or relax. SURROUNDINGS Literally, you will feel as if you have stepped into a Georgia O'Keeffe painting right from your doorstep! The home is located on 22 acres of private Abiquiú lakefront property in a gated community with lake access. The drive to the home with the incredible Sedona-like views is worth the trip in itself! You will be amazed at the views that surround you and you will want to wake up early just to witness the break of dawn. Then settle in for an afternoon siesta on one of the outdoor daybeds; or curl up to a book; go down to the water; start a gourmet meal; sightsee (if you must); horseback ride; photograph; hike the arroyos on your property; draw, paint, write, dream, and much, much, more. The location provides an absence of both noise and light pollution. The lakefront property provides guests with lake access for swimming, fishing, hiking - or bring your kayaks or boat to explore the lake. There is a cove at the shore on our property where our kids love to swim. The 6-person hot tub is nestled among huge rock boulders just off the western portal and it reserves its own spectacular views for itself, especially at night when the billions and billions of stars come out. For the more adventuresome, a short hike to the 'Stonehenge Firepit' at sunset for a spectacular outdoor viewing and nighttime fire atop the arroyo is a perfect setting for s’mores and your favorite ghost story.
ABIQUIU LOCATION We have a deep appreciation for the land and its history of this area - from dinosaurs, to Native American pueblos and cliff dwellings, to Spanish explorers, to cattle wrestlers, to ghosts and witches, to Georgia O’Keeffe - all the way to our current age where the past history and culture blends with the artist colony that Abiquiú has become. The home is conveniently located to Georgia O'Keeffe's Home and Studio, Ghost Ranch, Echo Amphitheater, Monastery of Christ in the Desert, Plaza Blanca, Cerro Pedernal, and the Carson National Forest. You will also want to explore the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, whitewater rafting down the Chama River, horseback riding through O'Keeffe country, the Ra Paulette Cave Tour, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Pools, Native American pueblos, and other amazing sites. Plan easy day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Cumbres and Toltec Railroad, and Bandelier National Monument. Of course, we also have guests who choose to never leave the home, and believe – like we do – that the location of the home on 22 acres of lakefront property is the highlight of their trip.

Abiquiu, New Mexico, Yhdysvallat

A beautifully appointed Adobe home that can accommodate up to 5 guests nestled in the village of Abiquiu, which is considered uniquely beautiful and a quiet and serene escape from the everyday to recharge and rejuvenate. We provide a well-furnished house that is actually my family home so you won’t find a sparsely decorated “vacation rental”. We provide freshly delivered coffee, excellent wifi, and Direct TV as well as a wonderful local caretaker to help with just about anything.
My family home for the last 40 years, nestled in Abiquiu, in the beautiful Chama Valley, in Northern New Mexico. Abiquiu is a quaint and eclectic gathering of both native New Mexicans and those in the know. The house was completely remodeled in 2005 from the roof to the floors. All new kitchen and amazing bathroom await you and you won't find is a hastily appointed 'vacation rental,' this is our home, and it's been beautifully appointed with an eclectic combination of modern pieces and beautiful antiques. Far from stuffy and boring, this house can be your jumping off point for all sorts of adventures in northern New Mexico, whether you're venturing into Santa Fe to peruse art galleries or headed to Taos to enjoy some fun, this house can be your idyllic escape from the hectic every day of your life. It's such a beautiful and quiet place to be where the stars at night seem to go on forever. The experience of being in the village of Abiquiu is such a unique perspective on life. It's not like the polished, touristy side of New Mexico; this house is located in the same place that people settled hundreds of years ago in a government land grant and continued with their lives. The home is just a short walk to Georgia O'Keeffe's home and a short drive to Ghost Ranch. The area brings many repeat visitors and warrants new explorations with each visit. Take a drive into the Chama River Canyon to hike, visit the Benedictine Monastery, enjoy the hot springs at Ojo Caliente or simply embrace the enchanting nature of Abiquiu - allow yourself to enjoy it all. Please know that the house is located in the highest part of the village and the road can be slightly intimidating although we've never had any issues with guests accessing the house. The house has a over-step entry and a step from the kitchen to one of the bedrooms so anyone with a mobility issue could have a bit of a challenge. Also, for clarity, the main bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom and the bathroom and kitchen are also off the second bedroom. The house flows from one room to the next as with most traditional adobe homes. We recently had privacy mentioned as a concern but this is the only time this has happened but I try to be very clear with my guests so as not to mislead anyone. Additionally, the tub and shower are set up on a bit of a riser so please bear in mind that it can be a little bit tricky getting in and out of for someone with mobility issues so please be careful. The house resides in a rural community consisting of dirt roads which a few guests have found surprising. They are generally in good condition for most vehicles but we want our guests to be informed of this. Please be aware that this house sits next to other homes in a compound-like setting and that there are people around and there can sometimes be noise during the day. We ask that our guests be flexible, understanding, and practice open communication when it comes to the neighbors and things such as parking and occasional noise. These are good people just living their lives, just know it's not an isolated vacation rental. If you're looking for a unique experience, this is the house for you! Please be aware that we charge a one time $25 pet fee for our guests traveling with their animals. Please let us know beforehand if you'll be bringing a pet and I'll send you a customized invoice. If you bring a pet and it is not disclosed during the booking process, we will charge a $75 fee.
It's a unique, wonderful community comprised of multi-generational families as well as many newcomers discovering the beauty and serenity of Northern New Mexico. Abiquiú is a small unincorporated town located in Rio Arriba County, in northern New Mexico in the southwestern United States, about 53 miles (85 km) north of Santa Fe. In the 1730s, it was the third largest settlement in the Spanish province of Nuevo México. Artist Georgia O'Keeffe lived there from 1949 until shortly before her death in 1986 at 98 years of age. You'll find many more highlights and interesting facts about the village with a simple internet search. Abiquiú was the starting point of the pioneering route of the Old Spanish Trail. This first route, the Armijo Route, was led by Antonio Armijo of Santa Fe, with sixty mounted men and a caravan of pack animals carrying blankets and other trade goods to barter for mules in Alta California. Armijo's caravan left on November 6, 1829, made the journey from Abiquiu to San Gabriel Mission in eighty-six days, arriving on January 31, 1830. He returned by the same route in 56 days, leaving March 1st and arriving back on April 25, 1830. Unlike the other routes of the Old Spanish Trail, Armijo's route was documented day by day by him, although in a very brief report listing dates and stopping places with few details and no distances recorded. It was submitted to the governor José Antonio Chaves and published by the Mexican government on June 19, 1830
  • Burkin talo oli hieno! Erittäin siisti ja varustettu kaikella mitä tarvitset ja paljon muuta. Brenda (taloudenhoitaja) oli erittäin halukas auttamaan kaikessa! Hieman vaikea navigoida ensimmäistä kertaa, joten muista lukea ohjeet huolellisesti.

Santa Fe on noin tunnin ajomatkan päässä. Läheiset maisemat ovat hämmästyttäviä. Jos pidät vuorista, poluista, laajasta avoimesta tilasta - tämä on paikka sinulle. Talossa on kaikki mitä tarvitset mukavaan oleskeluun.

    Katherine2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Burkin paikka on helmi. Meillä oli enemmän kuin tarpeeksi tilaa, mukava sänky ja kaikki mitä tarvitsimme. Se sijaitsee vanhassa Abiquiu-sydämessä, joka oli täydellinen meille. Tulemme varmasti palaamaan!

    Helen2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Puhdas, kodikas ja täydellinen paikka risteilyalueelle. Burk on loistava isäntä.

Gallina Canyon Ranch has been featured in many national and regional magazines, including New Mexico magazine, The Santa Fean, Better Homes and Gardens, Sunset, and Martha Stewart Living. The specially designed protected play area for your children is at the ranch within one mile of Anasazi. You may walk or drive. At the ranch is the community swimming pond, inflatable kayaks, floating trampoline, Slither (a 17-foot water park floating snake on which children can sit, stand, and walk), boogie boards, and a sand box with children's toys. The Gallina River runs right by this area where children love to play in the mud. We supply towels. Whether admiring the spectacular view of the Brazos Cliffs from your cabin porch or the edge of the fishing lake, hiking through the dramatic mountain landscape, or fishing on the 2-1/2 mile private stretch of the boulder-strewn Brazos River, there is no other place quite like it in the country. It really is a private national park, reserved for the few guests of the lodge.
We're at the terminus of Highway 512, about 7 miles east of its intersection with US-84, some 20 miles south of the New Mexico-Colorado border, and 100 miles north of Santa Fe. You can easily find us on Google Maps. To be more precise, we're ~8,000 feet above sea level at latitude 36°44'35.94"N and longitude 106°26'15.89"W.

Remote Wilderness Casita is located within the only twenty mile long gated box canyon in the Chama Wilderness. The rental includes one large room with kitchen, dining area, and queen size bed. There is a covered porch with two twin beds, BBQ, & more.
The rental is located on the site of an early 1900s homestead and is one of three vacation rentals we have in the canyon, with Ranch Wilderness Casita and Anasazi Wilderness Glamping Cabin. Gallina Canyon Ranch has been featured in many national and regional magazines, including New Mexico magazine, The Santa Fean, Better Homes and Gardens, Sunset, and Martha Stewart Living. Guest access ● Due to the 14 crossings of Rio Gallina required to get to Remote Casita, we take all visitors regardless of what type of vehicle they have, and their provisions in our truck. We will return you to the main ranch and your vehicle at the end of your stay. ● We provide fresh drinking water from our spring: two 5-gallon containers. There is also fresh rain water in the 1,600 gallon cistern. ● A picturesque kitchen and dining area. ● A three-burner propane stove. Do not use inside stove for frying food; use outside stove only with provided cast iron skillet. ● A medium size refrigerator - freezer that makes ice. ● Dish soap and paper towels. ● Kerosene lamp. ● Pour-over coffee maker. ● A large outside deck. ● A propane barbecue grill. ● A 4-gallon solar shower bag, liquid bath soap, shampoo & conditioner. ● An outhouse, with toilet paper. ● When available, we will provide eggs and produce from our garden. ● 20 miles of peace, quiet, and privacy. ● Technology-free vacation. ● Perfect for writers, photographers, artists, and people who want to 'get away from the world for awhile.' ● Ideal for hiking enthusiasts at all levels
The geology of Gallina Canyon is similar to Bryce National Park and Sedona AZ.
