The Meadows is a lovely grassy park to hang-out on the occasional sunny Edinburgh day. Also nice for a romantic stroll, there are lovely views of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. It is totally flat, and has tennis courts and a children's play park. It's also a good park to go for a morning or evening run if that's your kind of thing!

Princes Street Gardens are pretty packed during the Festival and for the New Year fireworks, but at other times, are generally quite tranquil. There are some lovely fountains and flower beds, and of course fantastic Castle views!
