If you are looking to grab lunch or dinner locally, then just a few blocks away across from the soccer field sits this delicious soda. Here you will find traditional cuisine. They have delicious ceviche, lobster, and affordable Casados(which are rice, beans, meat, and a salad).
Certainly a local favorite with affordable traditional meals.

If you are looking to splurge we recommend the Volcanic Rock Surf & Turf, which is definitely a unique experience to write home about! Pangas also has an elevated cocktail menu to enjoy, our favorite is the passionfruit margarita.

This is the perfect spot to go to which hanging out on the beach, this is our favorite sunset location to watch the gorgeous ocean water and sky fill with all sorts of shades of pink, and orange.

Collectivos are a common mode of transportation.
Across from Cabinas Corazon at the crossroads by the blue garbage can on the road to Tamarindo, you will often see cars pulling up and people piling in. These are collectivos, which are basically locals giving a ride for a small fee, essentially unsanctioned taxis that go one route. These are the easiest ways to get to Tamarindo.
We recommend asking "Collectivo?", this will assure no price gouging. It's typically 500CRC (80 cents) paid in cash. We usually only get in if other locals are waiting as well.

Taxis
We have local taxis but it is known that price gouging can be an issue. Typically $5 to go from Tamarindo to Cabinas Corazon or (Cruce de Villareal) is standard. If it is a holiday then prices may be higher, but we recommend always asking the price up front. Google translate is often your friend.
Taxi's are a good option at night. Collectivos are plentiful and much cheaper during the day when going to Tamarindo.

These are 3 things that you will be glad you brought. Sunscreen and bug repellant is often very expensive here, and a good pair of water shoes will be appreciated if on a rocky beach such as in Playa Langosta.

Affordable groceries
During your stay, the best way to save is to cook some of your own meals. You can go shopping at the local market which is just a few blocks away. Walk down to the left and just past the soccer field across the street you will find the Super Economico.
On the way there is a fruit market for fresh produce.
For meat, we recommend the local butcher. We will post more info in another section.
To the right of Cabinas Corazon, a little bit of a ways, you can also find 2 more grocery stores... the Maxi Pali and Super Mega(which is great for fresh produce).

More recently, more taxis are joining Uber and the local taxi app, Didi... these can be utilized with convenience, but you may need to wait depending on availability.
