You are tucked away on a hillside at the east end of Daaging Giids. The Village is situated along Bearskin Bay for approximately 5km. Skidegate is 15 minutes to the east by car. Drive around and explore the community or to pick up groceries. Walk down the hill and rent a bike or just take a stroll through town.

Whether you’d like to go on a guided hiking tour, paddle boarding expedition, kayak trip, pleasure boat tour, fishing charter or just ride scooters around town there is some thing for everyone in Haida Gwaii. You are sure to try Gather and Blacktail restaurants and there a few other eateries available in DG. Jags Beanstalk is an excellent breakfast restaurant with world-class coffees. Just a 15 minute drive east to Skidegate. In Daajing Giids, Stellars Jay bar and Grill makes a great chicken burger and offers a pint and some billiards. Sapporo Sushi is divine! Both are just a 5 & 10 minute walk down the hill from the suite. There are also 2 new take-out fish and chip places! One is just past the credit union on the dock side and the other is along the highway heading out of town.

As a small village nestled along a south facing shoreline with the forest flanking us to the north, you are sure to see wildlife! Blacktail deer, HG Black Bears, Eagles, Ravens, Great Blue Heron’s, Seals and Whales are just a few of the animals that make their homes here. You may even be lucky enough to see all of these from the comfort of the suite!!

Haida Gwaii is popular and tours book up fast. It can be tricky to find a rental vehicle at the last minute! Book excursions and rentals in advance! Ask me about my private rental vehicle if you have trouble finding a conventional rental.

Bring specialty food and drink items that you don’t want to forego on your trip. There is a good selection at our local shops but if you have a dietary/medical need, or just a hankering for certain items, bring along a supply. The weather can be unpredictable on HG. Bring a rain jacket, comfortable footwear and clothing that will layer so you can enjoy yourself fully.

There is a community market and that takes place on Saturdays at the community club just by the baseball field here in town. It is open between 11 AM and 2 PM. Great place to find locally grown and produced foods and art. About a 10-15 minute walk from the suite.

Haida Gwaii is a remote location, accessible only by air or via BC Ferries. It’s wise to purchase travel and trip cancellation insurance to ensure you’re not out of pocket in the case of ferry or flight cancellations.
