The Sons of Norway has a mission to preserve Norwegian heritage and culture in society, which they do (and do well). The Kringen Lodge #25 is just one of the ways they add some Norwegian flair to the Fargo community, by serving very Norwegian lunches every weekday from 11am to 1pm. You can stop by to try one of their four homemade soups, daily specials, and handmade lefse (a must-try!). Thursdays are free pie day, so you get a slice with every meal. Evenings at the Troll Lounge feature live music in a Norwegian atmosphere. Cultural activities at the Lodge include, dancing, stitching, language, rosemaling, hardanger, music, and much more.

Nichole’s is a coffee date favorite. Dainty European décor and delicious drinks are inviting, but their food is what really keeps people coming back. Owned by a North Dakota native, Nichole Hensen, who attended the Culinary Institute of America in Greystone, CA, she uses her culinary education to craft a menu of soups, sandwiches, quiches, and pastries (all made by hand, from scratch). You’ll find plenty of French-inspired food and drinks. Pick up a French press coffee with a croissant or macaron, then finish with a touch of Italian gelato.

Coffee
West Coast-inspired flavor profiles set this coffee apart from others in town with bright and sweet tastes that are a bit more nuanced. The owners have extensive experience in the West Coast’s artisan coffee scene, and have brought that style to the Midwest. They’ve also strayed away from the cozy, darker interiors of many coffee shops in the area, opting instead for white, minimalist decor and light wood finishings.

Escape to the Pacific Northwest for a few hours at Babb’s. The cozy interior is immediately welcoming – oversized leather couches, plush seats, wooden round tables, and a large neon sign modeled after Pike’s Place in Seattle will catch your eye first. Then you’ll notice the wall of locally-made products (some for sale) and rows on rows of flavored syrups used in their delicious coffee drinks. You can order everything from breakfast to paninis to sandwiches and quesadillas, but we first recommend you try any one of their coffee drinks… the coffee grounds are roasted fresh and air-lifted every week from Seattle for that smooth West Coast flavor.

What started as a kiosk in the Fargodome has expanded to a brand new store in South Fargo. Serving organically-brewed coffee, the shop features donuts made using a 100-year-old family recipe. Caramel rolls and other pastries also pair will with their espresso beverages, coffees, teas, smoothies, and milkshakes. For a more savory option, homemade, wholesome lunches, and other snacks are also available, and you can finish a meal with old fashioned, hand-scooped ice cream.

Everything is thoughtfully crafted here with waffles made with fresh ingredients and toppings made in-house with the coffee beans provided by local quality roasters and ground by hand. Recommend to try: Gray Duck Chai (local and organic brewed chai) with almond milk with a Muddsucker waffle made with powdered sugar, cinnamon, raw sugar, honey, and whipped cream. 550 2nd Ave N, Fargo | (701) 566-8749

This eco-chic local coffee shop is one of locals’ favorite hangouts, with plenty of seating, wifi, and delicious fair trade coffee, desserts, and vegan and vegetarian food options. Large glass windows look out over Downtown Fargo’s busiest street, Broadway, giving you a birds’ eye view of passersby if you happen to be a keen people-watcher. An exposed pipe ceiling and assorted blown-glass light fixtures complete the industrial, big-city vibe that still manages to feel inviting and cozy.
