This place is very loved by people of the neighborhood. It has everything a Ghentian loves: breakfast between 9 and 11 am, decent dish of the day (only 2 options a day, and one of them is vegetarian), local beers and a TV screen to watch cycling races. Nothing fancy, but very REAL.

This supermarket is closest to our house. It's rather small but you'll find absolutely everything to prepare decent breakfast/meal yourselves. And the people that work there are so friendly; every single day! (closed on Monday mornings, but open on Sunday mornings)

You won't find a place in the city with a menu that's more healthy than at PLUS+. But I guarantee you that you'll leave this place satisfied. The plates are very colorful and stuffed with power foods. Recommended!

Woops, another 'healthy food' place! But hey, you will definately walk out of this shop/bar with a smile on your face. It's actually a small food market with organic products only. In addition, they serve the most delicious vegan dishes as lunch. I like spending time there SO much, I sometimes consider quitting my job and go working there, haha!

FRENCH fries, say what?? BELGIAN they are! That 's the reason we have so much 'frituren' : snack bars that only sell fries and other fried food such as a 'frikandel' (sausage). Frituur Jozef is only one of them, located on one of the main squares of Gent, the Vrijdagsmarkt. If you want to enjoy your fries in the real Ghentian buzzy atmosphere, go there on a friday or saturday at lunch time because then there is a market on the square. If you like it calm, walk to the nearby Kraanlei and relax while eating at the waterfront.
