Food scene

For handy dining and a cold drink or a coffee, and overlooking unbelievable hilltop ocean views, you must experience the Eimeo Pacific Hotel. Casual atmosphere. A cafe not to be overlooked also is K&CO on Cnr. Holts Rd and Mackay-Bucasia Road (in the Nick Scali/Spotlight complex) for wonderful meals, treats and coffee, delicious gluten and sugar free options that you won't believe are gluten and sugar free! Ma's Pizza in Rural View is handy and delicious for pizza, and Vella’s Fish and Chips at Rural View. Ill Bacco Italian restaurant, 31 Brisbane Street (under the Quest Hotel) offers authentic italian dining, small family business offers exquisite food, and the best in italian dining. For outdoor/indoor breakfast and lunch from the large deck area at The Botanical Gardens Cafe, Lagoon St, Mackay, this is a great outing. Enjoy walks through the Botanical Gardens and their everchanging displays ofinterest near the cafe, in the Botanical Gardens Centre. Enjoy birdwatching and the natural fauna and lagoon, from your table. Superb coffee.

Neighbourhoods and parks

There are many beaches in the Northern Beaches area, including Dolphin Heads. Nearby Blacks Beach has a newly upgraded park, playground and barbeque area, and skate park on Camilleri Road. Also toilet facilities and water fountains. Shoal Point, Eimeo and Bucasia also have playgrounds and picnic areas, and are a short drive away. Drive up the iconic tree lined Mango Avenue in Eimeo for a picturesque outing and continue straight up to the Eimeo Hotel for a cold drink or coffee and cake during the day. Take in the free breathtaking view from their outdoor tables with sun umbrellas. Family friendly Restaurant and bar is also open in the evenings. Watch the sunset and create some memories.

Sightseeing

A sub-tropical rainforest with rivers and walking tracks for all capabilities. See the platypus, wallabies, and kangaroos and many other wildlife and birds, and create some wonderful memories. Approx. 80 km from Mackay.

Saturday Farmers Markets at Mackay Showgrounds

Open every Saturday 6.30am to 11am. A wonderful selection of local grown (some certified organic) produce, local grass fed meat, fresh seafood, pasture raised eggs, and many fruit and veges you will not see in supermarkets, cane juice drinks made on the spot, and locally made keffir water. If you enjoy fresh produce and healthy foods this is the place to go. Popular with locals and visitors alike.
