A must see while in Moldova! The wine cellars of Cricova is the second largest wine cellar in Moldova, after Milestii Mici (largest in the world). It boasts 120 kilometres (75 mi) of labyrinthine roadways, versus MM's 200 kilometres (120 mi), tunnels have existed under Cricova since the 15th century, when limestone was dug out to help build Chişinău. They were converted into an underground wine emporium in the 1950s.
Half of the roadways are used for wine storage. The roads are named by the wines they store. This "wine city" has its warehouses, tasting rooms and other facilities underground. It goes down to 100 metres (330 ft) below ground and holds 1.25 million bottles of rare wine. The oldest wine dates back to 1902.

Cricova Winery

It is located in Orhei forest near Curchi village, approximately 14 km southwest of the town of Orhei. The monastery is situated in the Vatici valley on a bank of the Vatic River between rich hills covered with forests, gardens and orchards. The monastery is a real gem, offering silence and peace.
The monastery has a rich religious and cultural past spanning more than two centuries. It was founded in 1773-1775 and became one of the richest, most beautiful, and largest monasteries in Moldova.

Manastirea Curchi
3524 OrheiCurchi Monastery is one of the most important architectural monuments of Bessarabia, and it is also considered to be one of the most beautiful and famous monasteries of the region.
It is located in Orhei forest near Curchi village, approximately 14 km southwest of the town of Orhei. The monastery is situated in the Vatici valley on a bank of the Vatic River between rich hills covered with forests, gardens and orchards. The monastery is a real gem, offering silence and peace.
The monastery has a rich religious and cultural past spanning more than two centuries. It was founded in 1773-1775 and became one of the richest, most beautiful, and largest monasteries in Moldova.

Tipova is famous for charming nature and the largest cave monasteries in Moldova and In Eastern Europe.
The fantastic Tipova Cave Monastery is built into cliffs that tower some 200m above the Dniestr River's right (west) bank, in the tiny village of Tipova some 95km northeast of Chişinău. The monastery consists of three religious chambers and monastic cells linked by precarious steps built into the rock face. The oldest of the three chambers, the Elevation of the Holy Cross cave church, is thought to date from the 11th century.
Tourists can visit the splendid path though the “Tipova” nature reserve. In ancient times (IV-III c. BC) a Geto-Dacian fortress stood in the grounds. Its remains are still visible.
A really powerful place. Many people come for peregrination, yoga and meditation. It is a must see place for ti-gun practitioners, as they feel the amazing energy of this mysterious place.

Transnistria, a forgotten remnant of the Soviet Union, is an unrecognized country hidden between Moldova and Ukraine, known as the ‘Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic’ (or ‘PMR’). Tiraspol, the capital, and Dubasari, at 35 minutes distance from Double Sided Fire Place House in Stauceni, are two cities that will take you back to the Soviet times. You can take the road to Criuneli and cross the border at Molovata.
One of the most notable things about Transnistria (and Tiraspol in particular) is the prevalence of Soviet symbology. While socialist monuments and busts of Lenin may still be commonplace in other former-USSR nations such as Belarus, and Russia, Transnistria goes one step further, actually referring to itself as a ‘soviet state.’ Communist motifs appear everywhere from schools and universities to the nation’s hammer-and-sickle flag. Meanwhile, Tiraspol’s parliament still meets in the city’s ‘Dom Sovetov,’ or, ‘House of the Soviets.’
While almost every other country in the world refuses to acknowledge the independence of Transnistria, this autonomous territory nevertheless features its own presidential government, a national flag, anthem and even a currency: the Transnistrian Ruble.

Food scene
This village attracts tourists as it keeps the old-fashioned Moldavian traditions with its colorful houses, narrow streets and amazing nature. Almost every single house has the agricultural and livestock courtyards. I had a great experience with the Butuceni restaurant-houses with amazing meals and hospitality. They look very charming from the outside because they remind you of your grandmother’s house, where you can relax after the walking tour around all the cave monasteries. You will be pleased by the taste of traditional Moldavian zama soup, mamaliga with fried fish or meat and a glass of cold white wine. Once you try homemade bakery, you will definitely fall in love with it. Don't leave without tasting Placinta.
