Whether you want to learn or have fun, spend time on all the fun, or challenge your brain and body, Oulu's own science center is just the place for you, with great knowledge for all ages. Tietomaa Science Center is already a concept in Oulu and Northern Finland as a whole. For many years it has been one of the most famous sights in Finland in Oulu. Many generations have visited there either with school groups or with their families. There are already well over one million visitors, and many come year after year.

During the summer this is probably the only beach there is:)
There is hotel there called Eden that has swimming pools there, both inside and out, though the out is small and great in the winter as you swim there from the inside:)

Food scene
There is a small burger place that does the best burgers and hot wings in Oulu called Kauppuri 5 which is 2 mins walk from the apartment. Its small but they serve beers there, so its quite cozy place.

If you like Indian then there is only one place to go which is my favourite which is called Indian Cuisine. Its about 10/15 mins walk and is opposite the railway station but its worth it the walk:

There are some traditional Finnish food restaurants and probably the most famous but probably the most expensive is Ravintola Uleåborg 1881. It does fantastic food and some more unusual food there as well.
But just book in advance!

Sokeri-Jussin Kievari is another very nice traditional Finnish restaurant which is around 5/10 mins walk from the apartment across the bridge at the back of the Theatre.
Great place to sit outside in the summer and enjoy a cool beer.

For the best Irish bar in town then pop round the corner to Leskinen. Its just 3 mins from the apartment and you ask anyone and they will point you to it.
This is my favourite bar in Oulu:)

If you enjoy karaoke then this is the place to go, but you could feel a bit out of place if you are in mid 40's as its quite a young persons bar.
If you like karaoke and you feel out of place then the just a little but further on to the market square you can find Karaoke Aitta 22

If you enjoy cocktails then this is the only place you need to visit.
Bar staff are great and you can ask them to whip something up to your hearts desire:)

Busses are free if you have a baby in a push chair/stroller
Just double check this but it used to be the case in Oulu where is was free.
