Gentle Annie is a stunning wild beach with a cafe, Cowshed Cafe, (in a converted milking shed) operating Wednesday to Sunday during the summer. Cowshed Cafe has fantastic homemade pizzas.

This is a historic coal mining area made famous by the novel Denniston Rose. Particularly interesting is the very steep partially restored Incline where rail cars took the coal down from the plateau.

There is a beautiful lagoon and a sandy beach. You can hire kayaks and paddle the lagoon surrounded by native forest and lots of birdlife. There are also a number of beautiful walks.

The complete walk is 3 hours from Ngakawau to near Seddonville, but most people just walk the first hour or so to the second waterfall and come back. It's a beautiful easy walk through rainforest, a couple of old railway tunnels and across a swingbridge.
