Food scene
The Bathrust Arms (www.thebathrustarms.co.uk) is our local traditional pub. Located at a mere 1.3 miles from the house, it is the perfect place to enjoy a pint or a great Sunday roast and mingle with the locals near the open fires. It is easily reached with a beautiful walk across the top of our hill which boasts magnificient views of the rolling hills on both sides. If you prefer, you could take a longer walk along a small river, and with a bit of luck, could spot a deer or two, lots of hedgehogs and pheasants on the way to the pub!

The Green Dragon Inn (www.green-dragon-inn.co.uk) is another favourite spot. Dating from the 17th century, it provides the perfect idyllic cottage-style retreat bringing log fires, beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors, and offers a variety of fine wines, real ales and fantastic food including Cotswold Venison Pie, Wild Boar and Chorizo Sausages.
You can also take wonderful walks around here, very idyllic through forests and streams!

The Green Dragon Inn (www.green-dragon-inn.co.uk) is another favourite spot. Dating from the 17th century, it provides the perfect idyllic cottage-style retreat bringing log fires, beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors, and offers a variety of fine wines, real ales and fantastic food including Cotswold Venison Pie, Wild Boar and Chorizo Sausages.
You can also take wonderful walks around here, very idyllic through forests and streams!
Jolly Nice (https://jollynicefarmshop.com) located West of Cirencester, is a converted petrol station selling fruits, vegetables, garden tools, lovely plants and their deli/shop is full of amazing treats sourced from local farms and businesses.

Scrubditch Farm is literally around the corner from us! They sell the most delicious fresh veggies as well as bantam, ducks and chicken eggs! You will need to call Emma with a bit of advance (perhaps a day earlier), and she will prepare a beautiful box of goodies for you! Her number is 07966 255631

The Kings Head Inn is a charming 16th century pub, with original fireplaces and interiors, delicious food! It is surrounded by a idyllic surrounding featuring a little stream and it is also so very lovely to sit outside in their garden when the weather allows!

The Swan In is one of the most charming pubs I have seen! The setting, both inside and outside, is absolutely charming, the village is magical and the food is divine! The Mitford Sisters grew up in Swinbrook!

Cerney House Gardens (https://www.cerneygardens.com) are one of our absolute favourite spots and are just around the corner from us. They are easily reached by car or foot if you fancy a wondrous walk through the woods. Set around a Victorian walled Garden, they house the private home of the Angus family. The utterly gorgeous gardens are everything to ask for, from all the colours of the rainbow to fairy-tale romanticism. They have been described by Country Living as '“What most people aspire to in their gardens”. The late Lady Angus and her daughter Barbara developed the gardens over the years and before they committed to acquire Cerney House, it was its walled gardens they first fell in love with. In 2019, the gardens started offering foraging courses and walks so you can learn about all the wonderful edible goodies this area of the country has to offer, discover delicious and medicinal plants and learn how to harvest sustainably back at home. You can also head over to the on-site shop which sells a range of garden goodies from pottery to herbs to flowers and there is a little charming self-serviced tea-room complete with delicious home-made cakes where you can relax after a day of exploration!

It offers a breathtaking view of the Five Valleys and is award-winning Saturday Farmer Market boasts more than 50 stalls offering delicious artisan bread, game meat and exquisite local dairy products.
Miserden is a beautiful chocolate-box village, not far from us- there is a lovely lady who sells fresh jams and chutneys. I cannot remember the exact door, however, the village is very very tiny and this lady lives opposite the pub there, which is also beautiful. You cannot miss her because she sets up a little table outside of her house, right on the sidewalk. And you can pick what you like and live the money in a box there.
Miserden has also fantastic nurseries and would make it a very lovely wander through the gardens, if you are up for it!

This charming 18th century garden has breathtaking views of the valley and highly deceptive serpentine paths, as well as wonderful 18th century pavilions built for the enjoyments of the local elites. This makes the perfect setting for a picnic.
