While you visiting Tybee Island, don't forget to spend a little time in gorgeous historic Savannah! Visit Savannah is a great resource of things to do here although I highly recommend the food scene as well as Wormsloe Plantation, Forsyth Park, visiting some of our amazing museums & a trip through the bars & shops of City Market & Riverstreet!

Tybee Island, GA is a quaint & quirky 3 mile beach community on a barrier island just off of Savannah, GA & the Atlantic Ocean. When visiting Tybee don't hesitate to shop and eat local, as these local businesses thrive off of tourism dollars. The prices of the local artist's art work that can be found on the island are a treasure that you certainly shouldn't pass up as a souvenir either. There is some awesome history on the north end In the island, including Fort Screven's 19th-century concrete gun batteries and the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum. The still-functioning 18th-century lighthouse has been rebuilt many times.

Spanky's on the beach serves great food and great customer service. It is conveniently located right off of south beach and not too far of a walk! Their chicken fingers & spuds are iconic

The Crab Shack is a Tybee staple! If you're visiting Tybee you must go eat "where the elite eat in their bare feet." North Beach Bar and Grill is one of the only places to eat on North Beach (and they're really good). Fannie's on the beach is a Tybee Island staple! In my opinion they have some of the best Pizza & they deliver! They also have a walk up window, offer indoor & outdoor dining & serve an amazing bloody mary!

The history here dates back to 1736. The tower stands 145 feet tall and has 3 Light Keeper's Cottages nearby. A small 1812 Summer Kitchen holds archaeological finds. Across the street is an 1899 Military Battery that houses the Tybee Island Museum. Exhibits cover the time of the Euchee tribe, the history of Fort Screven, Tybee's Golden Era and more. A yellow raised cottage adjacent to the property showcases 1900s Tybee architecture.

This is a great place to take the kiddos to learn about the local ecology and to see a few great sea creatures. The location is newly moved so they're still adding to it but you may get lucky and get to see a sea turtle while visiting & learning all about the science center.

Fort Pulaski was ranked one of the “most spectacular harbor defense structures” in the United States during the Civil War era. Its 7 1/2-foot solid brick walls and impressive masonry secured it against siege until Union soldiers used new, experimental rifled artillery to shatter its walls in 1862. Dogs are welcome at the Fort (unlike the beach) so this is a great place for the whole family to go!

When in Savannah... you must visit Riverstreet. From the cobblestone streets to the river views of the ships coming in and all of the great food & entertainment, Riverstreet is a true Savannah destination!

Having a golf cart is a game changer on the island! Just beware that you can only drive it on certain streets & can only cross at a traffic light.

Food scene
There are a few pizza delivery places on Tybee. All of the are decent. This is one of them however Fannies and Hucapoos are both pretty good for pizza too.

Bike, Car, Taxi, Uber, Etc.
If you don't feel like driving, Tybee has a taxi service named Breezy Riders. They are timely and priced fairly. Tybee also does bike rentals & golf cart rentals if you ever want to take a joy ride... but finding an Uber or Lyft may be a little more difficult (but possible). The good news: the island is 3 miles long so everything is walkable.

Enjoy that southern hospitality!
Here in the south our hospitality runs deep! We say yes ma'am and no sir. We say please and thank you. From personal experience, people who visit aren't so sure about all of the southern hospitality. We aren't doing it out of disrespect or any other means but to show that hospitality that our parents and grandparents embedded in us!

These places get booked up quick so you will want to make sure your time is well spent. Most places on Tybee & in Savannah don't need reservations for dinner but the fancy ones will and because of worker shortages some additional places are also requiring them. The Sundae Cafe and AJ’s may require reservation
