The ski-jumping city of Lahti is the nearest train stop, the place to go to the cinema and has the biggest shopping mall in the area Trio. With a beautiful lakeside location, don't miss Sibeliustalo Concert hall - a structure entirely built of wood with incredible, adjustable acoustics! Fun quirky cafés, the famous Institute of Art & Design and a variety of restaurants serving spicy wings. The only other place outside of Scandic hotel with any significant night-life within a 50km radius of our villa.

Sightseeing
Vuolenkoski is a fun, eccentric little village 12 km from our villa and this is their summer market offering a variety of local produce. Soak in the atmosphere, eat some local delicacies like muurinpohjalettu-crepes with strawberries & local jam and support the local kindergarten by buying coffee with a pastry at the beach-front café.

Tiny little supermarket surprisingly well-stocked with whatever you might need. They sell local produce from the Vuolenkoski area. Try sausages from Kilkkilä farm (farm located next to the store!) or rye bread from Viipurin Kotileipomo in Asikkala.

Saarijärvi’s Letturanta shore is a beautiful spot for the summer pancake parties that are organised for the holidaymakers on our family courses. With its shallow waters, the beach is perfect for children. Don't forget to sop by at the eerie ski-jumping tower with mini climbing-wall and stunning views on your way to Letturanta for a swim!
Apart from Letturanta, all of Vierumäki’s beaches have a jetty. Surrounding a ridge that runs across the region, the lakes have very pure and uncontaminated water. The beaches are well maintained, and the water quality is checked regularly. There are no lifeguards, and pets are not to be allowed to swim at the beaches.
