Full restaurant open Thursday-Sunday spring to late fall, bar open Fridays and Saturdays in the winter. Delicious German food Saturday and Sunday nights in the summer season. A trip to Mercer isn’t complete without an order of The Pines’ homemade dumplings and gravy. Their pizza is very good as well. There is also a beer garden with a massive fire pit you can sit near while bands play onstage during the summer months. Check their Facebook page for the most up to date details.

Amazing fish fry on Fridays, and other daily specials every day of the week. I have yet to order something I don’t like. Popular with ATVers and snowmobilers because it’s close to a trail. Full bar. Check their Facebook page for most up to date hours.

A beautiful restaurant with very good food, but you don’t really go there for just the food. Little Bohemia is the location of a shootout between the FBI and the infamous gangster, John Dillinger. They have all kinds of memorabilia on display in the restaurant, which is pretty cool. The food is good, but be prepared to pay supper club prices since they do not charge an entry fee to look at the memorabilia. If you’re interested in seeing the museum, but not spending about $75 on dinner for two, they offer lunch some days, and have a full bar as well.

Pretty much the only place in town to get breakfast. I’m including it in the guidebook as more of a warning than anything, really. The food is great, don’t get me wrong, but the service is notoriously slow, so if you go there, plan for it to take at least an hour and a half.

Drinks & Nightlife

Sports bar type setting that during busy seasons actually gets quite a crowd later on on weekends. They have a food menu available until a certain time depending on the day.

A good place to watch a game. Homemade pizza that’s my personal favorite in the northwoods. Good beer prices too, and Tuesday night is all you can eat pizza for $6.50 per person. Open year round, but with odd hours that vary frequently. Always closed on Wednesday.

Swimmer’s Island

Located within eyesight of the cabin’s shore, Swimmer’s is an island that is a sharp drop off on one side, and an expansive sand bar on the other side (west side). If you’re here with kids, it’s a place that you can often go, and the kids will find other kids there to play with. It’s for day use only, so bring sandwiches since there is no camping grill. You can locate Swimmers on the Flowage fishing map we have on the brown shelf in the kitchen.
County park with a small falls that’s beautiful during all seasons. Wonderful place for a family photo because they have a deck you can stand on with the falls in the background.

Turtle River Trading Company

If you forgot to get your fishing license before coming, this is the place to get one in town. They also carry live bait, tackle, fishing line, rods and reels, and other various boating, outdoors, and fishing gear. Also has some gift shop style items.
Great local store that’s been around for many decades. A great place to get a Mercer shirt, or any of the many locally made soaps, lotions, candles, and tons of other items.

Minocqua is a town about 30 miles south of downtown Mercer that has lots of things to do, especially in the summer. Mini golf, go carts, and antique stores are just a few of the things to do if the weather isn’t good for doing things on the lake.

The Paw Shop is a volunteer run thrift store in town that benefits the Mercer school. You can find some interesting stuff there sometimes, but it’s also great if you forgot a hoodie or pants for around the fire.
