Arigna Mining Experience

This cross was erected in 1950, the commentation of the Holy Year. It light's up at night and is spectacular on a clear night. This walk is very accessible. I love to climb it first thing in the morning and plan to do some night walks up it this summer with a full moon to guide me up.

Lough Allen is approximately a 20 minute drive from Sheemore view. I like to swim at Cormongan pier. Drive along the Dowra road from Drumshanbo to find this point on your left hand side.

Wonderful park with water and dry land activities. Seamus from Electric Bike Hire has a base here too to rent bikes. Daily boat trips around the lake. Cross country running enthusiast will love the trails here, one of my favourite places to run.

Running trails
When I am in the house I love the options of a 6km loop, 12km loop or 15km loop from Sheeemore View. Depending on your level of fitness their is something here for everyone. I can forward on maps from my Garmin app on request. These loops are on trails on quiet roads. A new 3km loop just opened this summer which my wife loves as its a gentle stroll.

Daily bus to Carrick on Shannon
The local link bus passes by the head of the lane on the mainroad (400m walk) daily at approximately 12.40pm returning at 3.30pm. Say hello to our local driver Ted and of course mention that the local Chieftain sent you ! This is a lovely way to get about without using the car.

My two girls love going for a ramble into the charity shops in town to get a bargin and have the chats with the lovely staff there.

Sheemore climb
The hill in front of my house is approximately a 4 km round trip walk from the house to the summit and back. It is very accessible with lovely views from the top. Old runners or hiking shoes will get you there. There is plans to build a walkway to the top which we are all looking forward to seeing.
