The Fish Market is my favourite restaurant, if you want a real nice evening this is the place to go. Let them pick the food for you with a food experience consisting of up to seven courses. The cocktails are also great. Its owner is a well known chef in Iceland.

The Grill Market is the Fish Market's younger sibling so to say, owned by the same amazing chef (see my other recommendation for the Fish Market). The interior design is absolutely beautiful and the food is also good.

The main shopping street, has been hit hard by tourism though in recent years. That doesn't necessary have to be negative if you want to buy souvenirs. Has nice coffee houses in the midst of it all. I recommend Te & kaffi and Kaffitár.

Skólavörðustígur is a beautiful street leading up to Hallgrímskirkja, the big church. One might say that the local clothes shops have one by one transferred here from Laugavegur after the tourist bomb hit Iceland. Check out Geysir, Kormákur og Skjöldur and Yeoman for nice clothes. There is also a nice coffee/bookstore called Eymundsson around the middle of the street.
