Food Scene
My favourite restaurant, U Emy Destinnové, can be found at Katerinska 7, Praha 2 (Nove Mesto) – close to metro station I P Pavlova and the tram stop with the same name (simply take the metro from Florenc directly to I P Pavlova). The restaurant is situated in the house where the famous opera singer Ema Destinn was born. It has a cozy atmosphere with an open fireplace, lots of candles and a nice corner with soft sofas, where you can enjoy your coffee, cognac or have a rum tasting – they have several very good and old rums and will be happy to make a tasting for you. Wednesdays and Thursdays, there is live music by a piano player. The food is fusion cuisine inspired by Italy, France, America, Asia and Spain. The steaks are among the best in Prague, so is the sea food. The American owner and head chef, Steven Trumpfheller, prepares every single meal served, thus putting his experience and personal prestige into each dish. The wine list contains both good Czech wines and wines from the traditional wine countries. Food quality is remarkably high compared to the prices. I simply cannot recommend this restaurant warmly enough. Book your table on +420 224 918 425

Cloud 9 is one of the most elegant cocktail bars in Prague, offering great cocktails and a wonderful view. You'll find it at the Hilton hotel, 5-10 minutes away by foot. Once inside the hotel, follow the sign to tghe special lift which will take you directly to the 9th floor.

If you want a private guided tour, don't hesitate to contact your host in advance. I've done city walks since 2007 and am familiar with Prague in general. A private tour will last app. 4 hours and will indclude the main sites on East side of the river, and advice in general. The price for a group is Czk. 2.500,-, but please book well in advance as my calendar may already be full if you book on a short notice

Letna Park is a large area on the opposite side of the river, easily accessible by public transport (or by foot). Take tran 8 from Florenc to Sparta (opposite the football stadiom). Once in the park keep an eye open for signs towards the large metronome (Stroj času na Letné) - and don't forget to have a refreshment in the Beer Garden with cheap drinks and snacks and wonderful views over Prague

Take the metro (line C) to Vysehrad and enjoy wonderful views, a perfect beer garden (with cheap food as well), nice parks and the most interesting cemetary in Prague. My own favourite spot for a relaxed day among the locals.

The national Galleriy for modern art at Veletržní palác in Prague 7 is a huge museum with contemporary art, including interesting works by Picasso and Mucha. Don't expect to be able to cover the whole museum in one day but pick one or two floors to focus on. You can go directly by tram 8 from Florenc (and get off at Veletržní palác) - or take line C in the metro to Vltavska, just 500 metres from the museum. Closed on Mondays

There are small shops in the streets around the apartment, good for shopping drinks, snacks etc. If you need a wider selection, I recommend Lidl, just a 5 minutes walk away. They are open Monday-Daturday 7-21, Sunday 8-21

Entertainment & Activities
The BreakOut is an "Escape" room, very close to the apartment. Good for a rainy day, for a family with teenagers, a group of adventurous people - and just fun in general. You'll have one hour to solve the riddles and find the clues, so you can save the diamond belonging to Emperor Charles the Fourth.
