Šavaša trail

The Šavaša is an exclusive Lithuanian river. The most picturesque part of its valley is at the very lower reaches of the river, where you will find the Šavaša interpretive hiking trail. The riverbanks here are dizzying in their height and the water drops 11 metres for every kilometre, like a true mountain river! The varying moods of the Šavaša with its pleasant chattering waters wins the heart of every tourist, while the landscape and the precipitous valleys require some strength and tourist skills. Pay attention to the information stands, which contain complete information about the beautiful Šavaša River and its surroundings, including the beaver lodge, Lūžai forest and the section of the forest, which you will need during your trip. Three geological stops – petrographic, geomorphologic and fluvial, and detailed topographical maps will reveal the historical secrets of the land. But that is not all – in the 16th century, concealed among the high valleys of the river, there was a sacred site for pagan Lithuanian rites. Its vestige is the hollowed-out Lūžai Stone, which is waiting for those who wish to get to know the travellers’ past. And if you feel tired, quietness and peace can be found on the Isle of Love set in the splashing waters of a bend in the river.
