Great museum on everyday life throughout the years. Maybe not for English speakers but if you understand Dutch this small museum will be a very pleasant surprise. Take a photo in the cool photobooth!

“My favorite museum in town! The extensive collection shows design from the Middle Ages until now and its impact on daily life. Also the temporary expositions are often worth a visit. ”

“The MIAT is the place to go if you want to learn about the history of industry in Ghent. The museum is set in a former mill-building (what better place to learn about industry in Belgium) and covers five floors. Whilst travelling through 250 years worth of industry, you will see and learn about plenty of machinery, which is even still operated on certain days of the week. It is deafeningly loud but luckily earplugs are provided! As an added bonus, there are great views of the city from the building’s top floor.”

“The café of Arts Centre Vooruit Large cultural chit-chat café and eatery with an Art Deco interior; originally the heart of Ghent’s socialist movement. Cultural temple for theatre, concerts, dance and parties. Many organic and/or fair-trade products and a veggie daily special. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Vooruit is bringing Triomf, one of its old beers, back to life. You can taste this 100% organic, highly fermented 6% vol. beer at Vooruit Café or the Vooruit shop. Cheers! ”
