Gávea do Mar is a remnant from Lisbon´s past: an old style “Cervejaria” (Portuguese Beer House), with large stone arches inside and a high ceiling. The food, the owner and the waiters have been the same for decades, almost exactly with the same menu and special atmosphere. A memory of old Lisbon: traditional, warm, unpretentious.”

“The Liverpool bar is blatant proof of the past of the “cais do sodré ” area until about 8 years ago: various strip clubs for sailors, old-school bohemians and traditional restaurants. There are no strip clubs anymore, and the crowd has become younger and hip. But the owners and decoration remain the same, with the mirrors, laser lights and intimate corners. The music remains 80's pop and Glam rock as always. Definitely a local charm.”

Here, unlike the majority of the restaurants in Lisbon where the best option is grilled fish, they specialize in food from the interior countryside of Portugal where the food is heavier and puts together more complex aromas. Ask for the wine list: its one of the best in town!”
