This church was built by Father Farvé, in 1856, in honour of St. Francis Xavier. It was at one time the largest church built by the MEP (Paris Foreign Missionary) in the Malay Peninsula.

Built in 1849 by a French priest, Rev Farve. It is dedicated to St Francis Xavier, known as the ‘apostle of the East’. He is well remembered for the missionary work spreading Catholicism to South-east Asia in the 16th century.

St. Francis Xavier Church in Melaka was built in 1856, in honour of St. Francis Xavier, a prominent 16th-century Catholic missionary. This twin-spired neo-gothic structure was built in 1859.
