The Spring House: a quiet off-grid retreat

The Spring House is a 13’ x 13’ off-grid straw bale cabin sitting above Taunton Bay among coastal lakes and mountains. Sleeps two; or two adults and a small child. The cabin uses a dry composting toilet outhouse, LED solar lights, and water gathered from a nearby spring. It includes a wood stove and two-burner propane stove for cooking. Enjoy yoga practice or relax on the porch. Our location is not for everyone; please read our description carefully and see if this adventure is right for you!

This new modern home is anything but ordinary. With four 11 foot windows lining the front of the home it allows for the space to feel light and airy. The bright interior is a perfect contrast to the exterior. Located in a quite neighborhood close to Newbury Neck Beach. This home offers parking, WIFI, a washer and dryer, and an outdoor lounge area. Just a short drive will put you in the heart of Blue Hill where you’ll find great restaurants and cafes. Acadia National Park is just 30 miles away.

You have the entire "Spot" to yourself and whatever wildlife happens to show up that day! ***Shoulder Season is upon us and this is a great opportunity to experience Downeast Maine and all of Acadia with less crowds and no vehicle reservations for Cadillac Mt required after October 26th and all of November and December.***

Oceanfront Cottage - What a View!

With panoramic, oceanfront views of Frenchman Bay, sit inside sipping coffee watching the waves come in , or go out and sit by the water or explore the rocky tidal pools. Our cottage is mostly privately rented. It is about 50 minutes away from the main Acadia National Park, but only 6 minutes from the entrance to the nearby Schoodic Point. The area is much less "touristy" than some regional destinations. There are still some local restaurants and events to enjoy just minutes away.

We are on the Blackwoods/Bar Harbor bus route so you can catch the free Island Explorer LL Bean buses to Bar Harbor and back.
