Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, due to the River Windrush that flows peacefully though the village, Bourton has an abundance of attractions, including Birdland, the Cotswold Motor Museum, and the Model Village. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Chapel Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, located just off Bourton’s High Street. The front door is accessed via the cottage’s front garden, and opens directly into the living room, with the following rooms on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This characterful room has exposed oak beams, stone mullion windows, and a large Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a three seater and a two seater leather sofa plus a leather pouff, as well as a pretty window seat.Other facilities include a Smart TV with Netflix access, and a DAB radio with an iPod docking station. The dining area has a lovely flagstone floor, and contains an antique wooden dining table with four chairs and a window seat, which overlooks the front garden; Kitchen: A doorway leads through to the country-style kitchen, which overlooks the garden. This well presented room has an electric oven, four ring gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a stable door out from the kitchen to the courtyard garden at the back of the cottage. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with whitewashed stone walls and oak beams, which contains a double bed, a chest of drawers with a mirror, and hooks to provide hanging space; Bedroom 2: Another stylish room, which contains a king size bed, and hooks to provide hanging space; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Further steep, winding stairs lead up to the second floor room: Snug/bedroom 3: This room is a perfect hideaway in the lovely eaves of the cottage, complete with Freeview TV and DVD player, plus a selection of DVDs, books and games. The room contains a day bed, which can be made up into a single bed. At the front of the cottage is a pretty, gravelled garden, with a stylish wrought iron table and chairs, which is ideal for making the most of the morning sun. The stable door from the kitchen opens out into the private courtyard garden at the rear of the cottage, which also has an outdoor table and chairs, and captures the late afternoon sun. The back garden has a useful outbuilding, which contains a washing machine and a tumble dryer. There is a 30-minute parking zone directly opposite the cottage, which is ideal for loading and unloading luggage, and two Pay & Display car parks are located a short walk away from the cottage.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. It is a private self-contained coach house and you will be the only guests. Please come and go as you wish. Strictly no smoking in the building. The neighbourhood is picturesque, steeped in history & very safe (since the English Civil War of the 1640's was concluded!) The Cotswolds is filled with lovely places to dine out - there is a nice village pub, The Red Lion, within walking distance. Please just ask for any recommendations of places to visit during your stay. Chastleton House is a mile away & described as the finest example of a Jacobean Country House in England. Little Compton has a Stunning Manor House with Saxon/Norman Church adjoining. The Walks from The Garden Room are spectacular, for example, an hour & half walk through fields will take you to Long Compton & another Red Lion for lunch perhaps?.. equally fabulous food. Traveling further afield by car or taxi, you have Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Norton, Stratford Upon Avon, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, Woodstock & Blenheim Palace, Cheltenham, Oxford, all under an hour to get to & all beautiful towns.

    This 300 year old cottage has an abundance of period features, is comfortably furnished and well equipped. There are 2 double bedrooms +single fold down guest bed and a child's cot. The beautiful village of Kingham is just a 30 minutes from Oxford and 90 minutes from London Paddington.
    The village was voted "England's favorite village" by Country life magazine and by the Sunday Times newspaper, as one of England's best places to live and most fashionable place to live in the UK, it has its own station with services in to London Paddington (90 mins) and Oxford (30 mins), there are two great traditional pub's/restaurants in the village, the Michelin star Wild Rabbit pub was voted pub of the year 2015 by the Michelin Guide and reviewed by the Daily Mail as England's poshest pub. The Kingham Plough is an award wining gastro pub, reviewed by the late AA Gill, the former Sunday Times food critic....." the kitchen is a serious restaurant work place. The bar menu is as fine as any Ive seen, any one thinking of opening a local pub restaurant should come here and see the gold standard ". All are within a short walk from the cottage. Also near by is the renowned Dailsford organic farm and spa. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, great for long walks and being the very hart of the Cotswold's, close to many places of historic interest.
    Great little village, nestling in the very hart of the Cotswold's, one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty and historic significance, there is a local village shop/post office, were you can get cash back over the counter, 3 great places to eat or just have a drink, all have nice outside spaces to enjoy in the sunshine and log fires, lovely village green with small play area and public transport. SO A CAR IS NOT ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY.

    Not a country cottage so no low ceilings, dark rooms and draughts..just well insulated and thoughtfully designed cabin with large windows to take advantage of the views. Definitely not glamping either as full facilities. Not located on a picture postcard street, just in large garden at end of quiet cul de sac but with main road running behind cabin. No struggle to find parking as ample space in own courtyard. Priced so I can afford to include all the little extras that guests value.
    Visiting on own or as a couple then enjoy Super King bed but easily splits into twins. Space in bedroom for cot and single folding bed or double inflatable mattress available for use in Sitting Room. Might be a bit cosy but great if only for a night or two. I have furnished in shabby chic style but with quality items all repurposed to create comfortable but functional environment. Love this quote left in visitor book "You close the door behind you and you've entered a secluded little retro world" You want a bit of peace and quiet well that is relative as most of my guests are escaping town life so find it very tranquil and scarcely notice road that runs at back of property. Others notice at first but soon realise view is more of a distraction especially when dining alfresco or enjoying the stars due to village Dark Sky status. Do remind guests that will need a torch when walking back from excellent Red Lion as no street lights. Having family members with disabilities I am aware of problems finding suitable accommodation so have designed with that in mind - not the complete set up but Octogenarian wheelchair bound friend stayed and he and wife found perfect for their needs. No sumptuous cottage garden - I'm the gardener so have to be realstic. Managed to save a few mature trees during build process in 2015 and much new planting that will be magnificent in couple of years but in meantime my natural border does include grasses and thistles as after all a weed is only a plant in wrong place and bees and butterflies love. Also have bird feeders and nesting box just outside bedroom window and blue tits particuarly love. Have thought about privacy carefully as their are occupants in main property but layout has been thought through to ensure everyone has own space without infringement on others enjoyment. Have had usual trials with IT but now have cabled connection to router and reliable service. Though most of my guests seem to really enjoy 'turning phones off' and listening to late Aunt's eclectic vinyl collection on multi media player. Similarly there is a TV but not dominant plasma screen just one discreetly tucked into corner. Have had guests for long term stays so always happy to discuss options if you need a base while working away or if between house sales.
    Little Bulpits (field for Bulls) was Old English field name of field before development and hence unusual name for this property. Long Compton is a charming Cotswold Village located in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and excellent walking area (MacMillan Way). On A3400 with Oxford and Stratford on Avon both 20 miles. The Rollright Stones are located on edge of parish. There is a well stocked village shop 5 minutes walk away and popular village pub 10 minutes walk. Local towns are Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh and Shipston on Stour. Whichford Pottery, Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery located in neighbouring villages. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford Farm Shop, Blenheim Palace and Compton Verney Art Gallery are both within half an hours drive

    A cosy Shepherd Hut, named Ronald, set in 60 acres of tranquil Cotswold countryside. Glamping at its finest with all the comforts of home in the great outdoors. Conveniently located 5 minutes drive from Moreton in Marsh, with direct train links to Oxford and London. Durhams Farm is home to over 30 much-loved horses and ponies. Horse riding experiences are available whilst you stay. The perfect location for couples, adventurers and equine enthusiasts.
    Camping may not be at the top of everyone’s list during the winter months but Ronald is a very reasonable alternative. We’ve kitted him out with hot and cold running water, heating and electricity too, so you can relax and enjoy all of the comforts of home, in the great outdoors. Ronald has a comfy fitted double bed, with storage underneath and all of your bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, an electric single hob, toaster, fridge and sink. There is private seating outside your hut with beautiful views surrounding. Great for stargazing and the sunsets at the farm are beautiful. During the winter months, radiators will be added to keep you warm. There is a heated shower room a short walk (25metres) from the Huts in a blue cabin. Here, guests have shared (max 4 guests at any one time) access to a shower, WC and sink. Ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers! We have two huts available at Durhams - great for group trips! Apologies, we do not accept bookings for young children (under 10) and/or pets. Wifi is not available in the Hut but can be accessed on the farm all day. Visit the riding school reception to connect your device.
    Our Shepherd Hut is set in a stunning part of the Cotswolds within easy reach of picturesque towns such as Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold. Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham and Warwick are both within a 40 minute drive. There are miles of bridleways and footpaths to explore in the surrounding area and some great local pubs and restaurants. Daylesford Organic is 3 miles away too and well worth a visit whilst you stay.

  • Tällainen söpö pieni mökki. Olemme todella nauttineet vierailustamme. Tupa oli siisti ja koristeltu hyvin huomaavaisesti, ja siinä oli muutama kiva kosketus - varaavat kodikkaat peitot, kuumaa vettä pullot nukkumaan, teetä, kahvia, kuumaa suklaata. Aamulla herääminen rauhallisten kenttien näkökulmasta oli kohokohta! Vaikka kylpyhuone oli minuutin kävelymatkan päässä, se oli puhdas, moderni ja mukava. Rakasti sitä!

  • Otin kumppanini Ronaldiin yllätyksenä syntymäpäiväänsä ja meillä oli paras viikonloppu. Rakastimme Ronaldia, hän oli aivan täydellinen kaikin tavoin. Hän oli erittäin söpö ja tyköistynyt kiihkeän tuulisen viikonlopun aikana, ja hänellä oli kaikkea mitä tarvitsimme. Ronald oli mukava ja mukava ja lämmin saapumisemme kannalta ja oli erittäin puhdas. Myös näkymät ovat vain uskomattomia mökistä, he ovat niin herkkua heräämään myös joka päivä. Suosittelemme, että suosittelemme Ronaldia ystävillemme ja perheellemme ja tulemme varmasti palaamaan pian uudelleen.     In the heart of the quiet village of Bledington; two minutes' walk from the award-winning King’s Head pub. The front door opens to an open-plan living and dining area with a seating area with TV to the right and small but well-equipped kitchen to your left. Stairs lead to a bedroom with king-size bed, plenty of storage in two wardrobe cupboards and a chest of drawers. Upstairs there is a large bathroom with bath and hand-held shower and a utility cupboard housing an automatic washer-dryer.
    Five Bells Garden Cottage is a mid-nineteenth century farmworkers’ cottage which has been renovated to a high standard and offers cosy and comfortable accommodation. Positioned well back from the quiet village street it is a tranquil and restful retreat located in the small village of Bledington in the heart of the North Cotswolds. Garden Cottage started life around the 1860s as an open plan living space with large inglenook fireplace which provided the only means of heating and cooking. A ladder gave access to an upstairs space which was divided into two bedrooms. It was built as a home for workers on the adjacent Grayhursts Farm (now Five Bells Cottages) at a time when there was a significant amount of farming, market gardening and light industry in Bledington. Tenants continued to rent the building until the 1930s when it fell vacant and became part of a local council plan to build more modern homes in the village. However, the Second World War put all such plans on hold and during the war the cottage housed a family evacuated from the East End of London and at times up to nine people lived there – still with no indoor facilities beyond a sink with cold running water and an outside toilet. After the war it remained intermittently tenanted until the 1970s though little was done to modernise it. At some time the ground floor was divided into two small rooms and a staircase built. When it was acquired in 2004 by the owners they decided to return it to its original ground floor plan by removing the partition walls and re-opening the large fireplace. They managed to source some blue lias stone to match the existing flooring, which was sandblasted to remove varnish and paint. The walls and ceilings were re-plastered and a modern kitchen fitted at one end of the open plan living area.(URL HIDDEN)Upstairs the two original bedrooms remain, but one has been converted into a modern bathroom which also houses a utility cupboard with washing machine and tumble drier. The double bedroom is furnished with a super king size bed and has generous fitted wardrobes. Shutters have been fitted to all windows and a fully programmable electric heating system has been installed along with electric water heating and cooking facilities so that the cottage benefits from all modern conveniences whilst retaining all of its original period charm. To the front of Garden Cottage is a south west facing private terrace garden equipped with table and chairs for alfresco dining on warm summer evenings. Deck chairs are housed in the cupboard on the right of the fireplace. Garden Cottage is fully equipped as a holiday home with all necessary crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. There is a full size oven and a two ring electric hob; a full size fridge with freezing compartment; an automatic washing machine with tumble drier; a drying rack; TV, radio, CD player; hairdryer. All bed linen, towels, tea towels, table cloths, napkins, cleaning cloths and suitable cleaning materials are provided for your stay. There are board games, books, local maps, CDs, DVDs, etc. available in the cottage. Catering services can be offered by prior arrangement, please ask for details and sample menus.
    Bledington is only one mile from Kingham railway station with its regular train services to London, Oxford and Hereford and Worcester. The cities of Cheltenham, Oxford, Stratford on Avon and Bath are only a short distance away and the village lies on the Oxfordshire Way. Situated in the Evenlode Valley and traversing part of the Oxfordshire Way, this scenic village has an attractive green and still retains its 15th century church and Victorian maypole, as well as a popular village pub. On the village green is the King’s Head, a couple of minutes’ walk from the cottage and there are many other good pubs and restaurants within a few miles of the village. Supermarkets and a full range of shops are available in Stow on the Wold and Chipping Norton and a village shop selling newspapers is situated in Kingham (2 miles away). The renowned Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is four miles away.

    Voted "England's Favourite Village" in 2004 by Country Life magazine, Kingham is a beautiful, unspoilt Cotswold village, with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages, mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley, a short drive from the well known Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There has been a church on the site of St. Andrew's Church for at least 900 years, although the present building is a mixture of ages. The font is 13th century, the Perpendicular Gothic tower 15th century, the nave roof is dated 1774 and the rest of the church was remodelled in 1851-3. The church also has a fine old rectory, built in the 17th century. Kingham has two highly regarded pubs, a village shop and is just a mile away from Daylesford Organic, which is well known for its organic food, cookery school and spa. Kingham is also the only village in the Cotswolds that is served by a main line railway station, which provides regular services to London Paddington station. The front door is at the back of the property and opens into a spacious entrance hall, leading into the well-laid out open plan ground floor area.     Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The utility room is perfect for cyclists or walkers returning from a day out in the countryside, and three adult bicycles and helmets are provided for guests to use (at their own risk). Free parking is available within 50 metres of the cottage, adjacent to the village green. Upon arrival, luggage can be unloaded adjacent to the village hall, approximately 20 metres from the cottage.

    Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films.     This pretty Oxfordshire village, four miles south-east of Stow-on-the-Wold and six miles south-west of Chipping Norton, has a 15th century church, pretty village green and excellent local pub. It is a perfect launch pad for the many places to visit in the area, but perhaps you might prefer to chill out in one of the many excellent vilage pubs, or restauraunts. Walks - Bledington lies in the Evenlode valley, and forms part of the Gloucestershire–Oxfordshire boundary and stands on the Oxfordshire Way. For the nature lovers among you, many lovely walks of varying length can be enjoyed directly from Bledington and Foscot, Footpaths are signed clearly from all sides of the villages. Walk over to Kingham for lunch at The Wild Rabbit, or The Plough, or even Daylesford Organic Farm Shop if you are feeling stronger. If you go to the far side of Foscot you will discover the nature reserve at Foxholes, an ancient woodland maintained by the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust. The bluebells in May are wonderful. The village is built round a rectangle of streets, with the church in the south corner, and the green, with most of the older houses near it, on the northwest side. The village green is a large unenclosed stretch of grass, with a stream running through it – and usually, a happy and busy gaggle of ducks. The village holds a summer fete on the green every June with a mix of new and traditional stalls. One of the main draws to Bledington is the annual music festival, held in early June. Over three summer evenings, the church acts as venue for top-class performers from all over the world.     Bury Fields Cottage is located off a farm track, just a short walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water. The front door opens directly into the main living area and the following rooms: Living/dining room/galley: This bright and airy space provides a comfortable and sociable living area and contains a sofa, two bucket armchairs, electric flame effect fire and a wall-mounted Smart TV. The wooden dining table comfortably seats four.     Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret!     Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now.     Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The oak beamed ceilings and the age of the cottage does make for a few squeaky floorboards! Up to two dogs are welcomed but are not allowed upstairs or on the sofas. Bledington is a quiet, delightful Cotswold village with a village green and stream. It is surrounded by open countryside with excellent walking. The Church is opposite the house and the acclaimed and friendly pub The King's Head Inn, is less than five minutes down the lane. The pub was voted pub of the year 2018 by The Good Pub Guide. There are many other places to eat in the locality with a number of gastro pubs and great restaurants in the surrounding villages. Shopping in the local towns and villages suits all tastes. Daylesford Farm & Organic Shop is 4 miles away and if you don't feel like driving, there is a lovely walk across the fields from Bledington to Daylesford. There are many beautiful towns, villages and churches to visit in the area and activities to suit all ages. Private members club Soho Farmhouse is 12 miles away. The cottage is within easy reach of Stow-on-the-Wold (4.5 miles), Bourton-on-the-Water (7 miles), Burford (8 miles). Stratford-upon-Avon (25 Miles) and Oxford (27 miles). Kingham station with main-line services to London, Oxford and Worcester, is one mile away.

    Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets.     The Smithy is on the corner of a quiet road, in the heart of Chipping Norton. The front door is accessed directly from the pavement and opens into the main ground floor living space. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: The stylish living room contains an exposed Cotswold stone wall, wooden floor and a cosy wood burning stove, There is a large sofa, a snuggle chair and an armchair, as well as a flat screen SMART TV. The dining area contains a large wooden dining table, with seating for six; Kitchen: The contemporary kitchen is well laid out, and contains an electric oven, four ring gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, combined washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a kettle, toaster and a Nespresso coffee machine (without capsules); Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from behind the dining area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A bright and airy room, which contains two single beds; Bedroom 2: Another elegant room, which contains a double bed; Bedroom 3: The standard setup of this room is with a single bed, however a further 75cm wide pull-out single bed can also be setup in this room, upon request. There is very little floorspace available in the bedroom when the pull-out bed is setup, especially when set up as a twin; Family bathroom: A stylish, modern bathroom, which contains a bath with overhead shower and handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin. At the rear of the cottage is a small, elegant courtyard garden, which contains a bistro table and seating for four.
    Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s.

    Lavender Cottage is located just a short walk from the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold.     Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. Behind the ivy-clad façade lies a charming, stylish interior with the warmest of welcomes.     Gables Cottage is accessed via its back door, which opens into a small porch and then a larger hallway. Two ground floor rooms lead off the hallway: Living room: A beautiful dual-aspect room, with flagstone flooring in half the room, exposed Cotswold stone, oak beams and a large inglenook fireplace, containing a wood burning stove. There is comfy seating for six and a flatscreen TV, with a full Sky package; Kitchen/dining room: Another dual-aspect room, with oak beams and a lovely window seat. The kitchen facilities include an electric single oven, four-ring hob, washer/dryer, a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a fridge/freezer. This sociable room also contains an extendable wooden dining table and six dining chairs. A beautiful wooden spiral staircase goes up from the hallway to the first floor landing. Please note that the staircase is steep and narrow, however, it does have a hand rail in the centre and fixed stair gates at the top and bottom. The following rooms are on the first floor: Master bedroom: Another beautiful dual-aspect room, with elm floorboards and oak beams, which contains a king size bed. Bunt Barn is tucked away in the picturesque village of Broadwell, a quaint and unspoilt village which benefits from a popular pub, a village hall which hosts a tea and cake morning once a week, and a large green which has a children’s playground. Situated within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village is surrounded by glorious countryside, with many cycle routes and walks on its doorstep, including the Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail which passes through Broadwell on its way to Stow-on-the-Wold, just a mile away. Another popular destination nearby is Daylesford, home to the renowned Daylesford Organic Farmshop and Café. Inside the house, a small entrance hall leads into: Living room: A grand room, which has been newly refurbished in a traditional style, enhancing the abundance of period features, including stone mullion windows, a large fireplace with wood-burning stove, wooden beams and a centuries old alcove. The refurbishment includes a limestone flagged floor, with underfloor heating, and the provision of a flat screen satellite TV and Blu-ray home theatre system with an iPod docking station. The living room then leads into the Inner Hall, which in turn leads to: Shower room: Contains a shower, basin and toilet; Kitchen/dining room: The kitchen is well equipped, including a cooker with hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer dryer. There is a good sized dining table, with five chairs, and the layout of the room ensures that all guests can socialise whilst cooking is in progress. Returning to the Inner Hall, a grand wooden staircase leads up to the first floor hallway, off which are: Bedroom 1: The initial highlight of the room is the spectacular super-king size four poster bed and this impressive room also has what is believed to be the original wooden flooring, stone mullion windows and the original “wig and gown” cupboard. There is a flat panel satellite TV in the room; Bathroom: Contains a bath with shower attachment, basin and toilet. The staircase then continues up into the gable of the house, giving access to: Bedroom 2: A very spacious, dual aspect eaves bedroom, with beautiful original wooden beams. The room contains three single beds, two of which can be pushed together and one of which doubles up as a sofa (it is a full size adult bed, however). Heading back downstairs and out of the front door, the lovingly cared for open plan gardens spread out in front of you. In Middle Gable The Old Hall’s garden, extending from the front of the house, there is a bench, for relaxing and looking out over all the gardens, as well as a paved seating area, which contains an outdoor table and chairs. At the end of the garden is a double garage for guest use.
    Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton.
