  • Mökki on todella kaunis.

Paljon kiitoksia kaikesta.

  • Tällainen kaunis koti kauneimmalla paikalla! Joki on kirjaimellisesti aivan kotiovellesi. Maaginen! Myös jokeen suuntautunut julkinen kävelytie oli täydellinen kävelyä vauvalle päivällä. Talo on erittäin kauniisti kalustettu ja siinä on kaikki mitä tarvitset. Kotona poissa kotoa. Ihana isäntä, kaunis talo! Olisipa varmasti uudelleen.

  • Upea, moderni paikka kauniilla paikalla.

Lochside Farm is nestled high up on the hill behind the town of Sanquhar. The farm is situated next to the town's old curling loch, from which it gained its name. The steading was originally the burgh farm and belonged to the people of Dumfriesshire. To this day, each summer, the people of the town and surrounding areas gather at the steading and together ride the old farm boundaries on horseback, in a colourful procession know as "Riding of the Marches". The Royal Burgh of Sanquhar is situated on the River Nith at the foot of the hill. The town's name “Sanquhar” is derived from the Gaelic Seann Cathair, meaning "Old Fort" and at the south end of the town there can still be seen the ancient ruins of the castle. Frequented in older times by the famous national baird Rabbie Burns, Sanquhar is now famous for Sanquhar Knitting and for its tiny post office, established 1712, making it the oldest working post office in the world.

A charming 2 bedroom (S.king & Twin) lodge with Hot Tub on a farm in the Upper Nithsdale Valley with wildlife, rescue dogs, horses, Shetlands, donkeys sheep and ducks on site. The peaceful Lodge is detached & private on a farm nestled in a deep glen in the Nithsdale Valley with the River Nith running through the grounds. Walks can be taken from the door with lots of wildlife, including birds of prey, Roe deer and otters. A haven for bird watchers and photographers or those who just love animals!
There is plenty to do with entertainment for all the family both on and off site. The West facing terrace with garden furniture or the private hot tub are perfect for sitting in and watching the bird life, donkeys and sunsets from. Or you can come and meet all the animals here. If you prefer to stay indoors there's still plenty to do with a smart tv, dvd player, wifi and lots of board games. I have just taken over ownership of the farm. I am a pet photographer and recently moved to Scotland with my dog, Dali, a 3 year old Dalmatian who will want to say hello and have a cuddle with you. In the few months that I have been here I have acquired 3 other Dalmatian X rescue dogs, 2 rescue donkeys, 2 rescue Shetlands, 1 Welshie and a rescue ex racehorse as well as 2 ducks and some sheep! You may or may not see me around the yard and/or farm. Please do not be offended if you do not see much of me. Running the lodges, a livery business, looking after the rescue animals, my photography as well as running the farm in general keeps me very busy! If you do see me, however, I am always up for a good old natter!
The area of New Cumnock (5 mins by car) has local shops available with convenience stores and a pub. There is also a very good outdoor heated swimming pool. Dumfries house is just outside of New Cumnock as are a range of beautiful walks. There are many golf courses around as well as a local spa at the Lochside Hotel. There is so much to do around here. Ayr's sandy beach and popular beachside town is under an hour away and what about panning for gold at Wanlockhead? If you are a fan of Scotland's own Robert Burns there are plenty of memorials and museums celebrating him and his works. Or maybe you would like to go for an experience day with the nearby Blackstone Clydesdales? You can even just have a day off and stay in the lodge with plenty of games and books for all or go for a picnic and fishing along the river that flows along the land's boundary taking in all the sites and wildlife you find there. Whatever you decide to do, there will be a lot of choice!

Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland, sits amongst the rolling hills of the Southern Uplands. The peaceful village is a perfect get-away and offers a number of holiday options whether it’s for a long weekend or a couple of weeks.
The 18th century cottage was built during the lead mining boom and has recently been updated into a comfortable and cosy retreat ideal for a family or group of friends wanting to get away. The cottage has two lovely wood burners and plenty of space for everyone to relax. GROUND FLOOR Sitting room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet with shower over bath, and a double bedroom. FIRST FLOOR Double bedroom, twin bedroom (narrow staircase to upstairs with handrail on one side only) OTHER FACILITIES Wood burners in living room and dining room, bed linen and towels provided, handwash in the bathroom, Freeview TV, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing up liquid and tea towels, plenty of off-road parking.
Wanlockhead is perfect if you just want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With the Southern Upland Way on your doorstep there are lovely walks all around the area. Galloway Forest Park is within easy reach, as well as Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, both perfect for wildlife watching. Wanlockhead is on the South West Coastal 300 route and is a great location for visiting all the highlights as day trips instead of driving the full circuit. If it’s history you’re interested in then Wanlockhead is famous for it’s Lead Mining Museum and Tour (peak season only) which involves going into an 18th century mine and visiting two miner’s cottages to learn about life in those days. In the summer months you can do some gold panning and board the train to Leadhills, the neighbouring village, on the track that was built in 1900 to transport the lead from the mines. Robert Burns enthusiasts will already know that he spent a night here in Wanlockhead in 1789, repaying the blacksmith for shodding his horse, Pegasus, with a poem. Burn's Birthplace Museum at Alloway is about an hour away and Robert Burns House in Dumfries is about 40 minutes. For those who are looking for something a bit more active there are lots of options for walks of varying lengths and there is a 9-hole golf course in Leadhills and Lowther Hills Ski Club nearby. For something a lot more active the 7 Stains Mountain Biking routes surround this area of Scotland. Slightly further afield you will find the beautiful Drumlanrig Castle, about half an hours drive, and Edinburgh and Glasgow both just an hours drive away. Whatever you decide to do during the day, you can finish off by heading down to the Wanlockhead Arms for a drink.

The cottage is a cosy mining cottage, with a gorgeous wood burning stove, comfortable beds - including an exciting high bed for the under 11s! - and beautiful views across the valley to the hills (and ski slope) beyond. The cottage is fully equipped for up to six people and offers a homely, stylish space for relaxing after a brisk walk in the hills, and along the Southern Uplands Way, or after a day out in Glasgow (under an hour away) or the sunny beaches on the Solway Firth (90 minutes).
Nestled in the Lowther Hills, the cottage offers everything you could need for both short and long breaks. A cosy living room is equipped with books, games, dvds and tv, with Netflix and free view. The kitchen dining room provides everything you need for making simple - or elaborate - meals, and has a dishwasher (because no one wants to wash up on holiday!), electric hob and fan oven, and a washing machine with a tumble drier in the cupboard, along with a fridge and small freezer. Downstairs, the bedroom contains a high bed for a child, and a sofa bed for grown ups if needed. Upstairs, a mezzanine landing has a comfy single bed with guest bed under, which can be configured as two singles or one huge super king bed. The main bedroom has a super king bed, desk and comfy chair for reading in the evenings. Outside, an unfenced garden to the front of the cottage across the road provides views down to the stream and on to the hills beyond. It’s also an excellent spot for sledging when the weather turns!
The local area is renowned for its gold mining history, with the Leadmining Museum just a very short walk from the cottage, where you can take a trip down into one of the original mines during the summer season. Wanlockhead, which is purported to be Scotland’s highest village, is home to Scotland’s highest pub too, the Wanlockhead Inn, just a short stroll down the hill. The Southern Uplands Way winds its way through the village, following the stream and slightly further afield, the Mennock Pass offers breathtaking scenery and the chance to pan for gold in the icy water (and swim in the swim hole if you’re brave enough!). Wanlockhead has a cool climate and snow is a big feature of winter.A community led ski slope provides tow lifts above the village, with nursery slope provision in neighbouring Leadhills. Further afield, Dumfries and Galloway is home to a dark park where you can gaze at the stars (they’re pretty impressive from the cottage on a clear night too), and is home to lots of historical sites, castles and places of interest, including the newly opened Moat Brae house, childhood home of J.M. Barrie, and now Scotland’s national storytelling centre. Glasgow is a short drive away and, as befits the city of culture, offers fantastic places to visit, shopping and eating out. And if you fancy a longer drive, Edinburgh is less than an hour and a half by road. Heading south through Dumfries and Galloway you’ll find the coast line of the Solway Firth - a favourite place for us all year round, and if you want to explore around that area, you’ll find plentiful small beaches and Wigtown, Scotland’s book town with its famous bookshops and annual book festival. Wanlockhead is a fantastic place to explore in its own right, and the gateway to so many places in southern Scotland and we love it there.

A charming 3 double bedroom lodge with Hot Tub on a farm in the Upper Nithsdale Valley with wildlife, rescue dogs, horses, Shetlands, donkeys sheep and ducks on site.

The Octopod is a relatively small space for a dog and we want you ALL to enjoy your visit. We do not charge extra for cleaning with the assumption that you will leave the pod as you find it and protect bedding etc. You're in the heart of Burns countryside here with views down the Nith Valley and loads of Burns attractions within easy reach. If you want fresh air, space to think and perhaps inspiration then look no further. If you want to surprise that special someone then we can arrange flowers and chocolates in the room, champagne....whatever you need to make their stay a memorable one.
It’s peaceful and quiet here a private place with great outlook where you can contemplate and just be! We are fairly close to some old lime caves with protected bats species - unfortunately these areas are not always respected and we can experience fly tipping which is completely abhorant!
