A wonderful new (2016) national monument that includes parts of the Desert Training Center where General Patton trained troops before the invasion of North Africa in World War II, as well as stretches of America's Mother Road - Route 66. Plenty to explore!

Between the Mojave National Preserve and Joshua Tree National Park , MTNM encompasses 1.6 million acres of desert mountains, lava flows, and sand dunes.
