What I consider a quintessential momument to Detroit history. Joe Louis' story is one that ties together so many of America's triumphs and failures, like the city itself. Worth reading up on the boxer and the controversy of the monument.

I love this unique homage to boxing legend Joe Louis. It's a uniquely Detroit site, and just east of it you can also check out the Spirit of Detroit statue which is equally inspiring. If you have more time, then check out Hart Plaza (just south along Jefferson) to see the iconic park that Isamu Noguchi designed.
