This hike will take you down 800 ft into the ‘Valley of Kings’. Waipi’o valley can be described as a lush, tropical, fairy tale valley with many waterfalls and a black sand surfers beach. Make sure to take plenty of water, some food and a trash bag to pack out everything you take in.
***** The black sand beach at Waipio Valley is a 2 hr drive, including 10 minutes on a very narrow, steep, and then bumpy 4 wheel drive road. This road can be hiked in and out if you aren't able to drive it. Carefully cross the stream and get to the other side of the beach which is absolutely beautiful - one of the best in the world. There are portable toilets.
