El Charco del ingenio is San Miguel's botanical reserve. It is run by volunteers and it is kept beautifully pristine. It has a wonderful variety of endemic flora and the trails are a delight to explore. This is a short video of the park. The Jardin is the main plaza in San Miguel. The Parroquia is a beautiful church, there are three great cafes to sit down and observe people. There are always things going on in the Jardin.

This is the city’s hub. On a Friday or Saturday evening (between 6p-9p), as the sun is setting, go to the Jardin to people-watch, see the buildings lit up all around, listen to the mariachis, watch the break-dancers, hear the Rondalla (a choral group), see the mojigangas (tall, colorful, walking figures made of paper mâché). This is quintessential San Miguel. A must! And, there are frequent celebrations, like indigenous dances (daytime), weddings (evenings), fireworks (nighttime) and church bells (any hour of the day).

"Sunday night is the night to hang out but every night is good for people watching and the general relaxed feel of San Miguel de Allende. Cool areas to sit and relax under the clipped bouganvillias. Snacks available from the street vendors but its cheaper to buy from the pharmacy in Canal St.
