Opened in a former woodworking shop in 1960, the café has helped to launch many of America’s best loved songwriters, ranging from Bob Dylan in 1961 to Sawyer Fredericks in 2014, with an amazing “who’s who” list in between. Upon the passing of founder Lena Nargi Spencer in 1989, Caffè Lena was converted to a non-profit institution supported by concert revenue, private and corporate donors, grants and bequests, and an ever-evolving team of volunteers. There's nothing like seeing a show at the intimate Caffe Lena! It's loaded with folk music history and continues to carry it forward by showcasing traditional, alternative, and cross-genre folk music. Reserve a seat on the couch if you're traveling solo and you're bound to make new friends. And, it's practically next door!

This is a historic gem in not only Saratoga but the USA featuring the best original talent in the world. Started by Lina Spencer who recognized the talent in individual song writers and performers such as Bob Dylan, Mississippi John Hurt, Roy Book Binder, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and many others before they were famous and gave them a stage and gave Saratoga Springs and our regional area the gift of of their talent!

This is a small music venue with live performers. It is best known for folk music but they also have blues, jazz, klezmer, cajun, bluegrass, classical and a capella music. Tickets must be purchased in advance for sell-out shows.
